BIG NEWS
Excited to announce that my grant application from the Canadian Society of Addiction Medicine has been approved and inspirebyexample.ca will begin to feature inspirational addiction recovery stories of those who went to hell and back and lived to tell their tale.
Over the next 9 months I will also be creating a film project documenting raw stories of those went from the lowest of lows to the peak of triumph. All of which will be highlighted at the 2023 Canadian Society of Addiction Medicine Conference.
Excited for the future!

Proud to work with the @camhfoundation in support of the “No One Left Behind” campaign.
Both suicide and addiction have had a profound effect on my life, where I lost everything that meant anything to me. However, finding meaning in the suffering has brought me the most beautiful experiences of my life that I wouldn’t trade for the world.
Honoured and humbled to work with such an amazing organization that makes such an impact in the field of mental health and addiction at a time when we need it the most.
Please donate if you can in the link below to help build better mental health care for everyone!

Today marks 12 years from beginning my first ride across Canada, an adventure that changed my life forever.
I had been off methadone 78 days and had no experience in film, journalism, public speaking, public relations, I hadn’t rode a bike in 10 years and I was just coming out of a near decade long opioid addiction.
Quite literally, everyone thought I would fail and that I shouldn’t even try. By that point in time, I had stopped caring about what anyone thought of me some time ago. It was something that I believed in enough that I was going to succeed or die trying.
It was the single greatest decision of my life and I wouldn’t trade the experience and everything that came from it for the world.
@hrimentalhealth : Meet one of the panelists for our next HRI Talk, AI and Substance Use Health: Are We Ready for What’s Next?
Chris Cull is a two-time cross-Canada cyclist, motivational speaker, filmmaker, healthcare worker, policy consultant and recovering opioid user. He uses his experiences to advocate for mental health and addictions awareness. He has shared his expertise and advised numerous institutions, including: Ontario Health, CAMH, the Canadian Society of Addiction Medicine, the Canadian Centre on Substance Use and Addiction, the World Health Organization and the United Nations.
Join us on Tuesday, April 21st at 7:00pm-8:00pm Eastern as we explore the evolving role of AI in substance use health care in Canada: where it can add value, where caution is needed, and what it means for patients, providers and the broader healthcare systems.

A special thank you to @thewalrus Magazine and Addictions and Mental Health Ontario (AMHO) for inviting me to speak at The Walrus Talks Opioids event. It was an honour to share the stage with such knowledgeable and passionate speakers.
I got to live out a dream I’ve had for many years this week with representing Canada at the United Nations. It’s an experience that I will cherish for the rest of my life.
Exceptionally honoured to have had the privilege of speaking on an expert panel at the United Nations with Canada’s Fentanyl Czar/Senior Associate Deputy Minister of National Defence Kevin Brousseau, the European Union Drug Agency’s Head of the Substance Use, Harms and Responses Unit Dr. Jane Mounteney, CEO of the Canadian Centre on Substance Use and Addiction Dr. Alexander Cauderella, and Former Chief of Police of Durham Region and Ottawa/Former Canadian Senator Vernon White.
A very special thank to the Canadian Centre on Substance Use and Addiction (@ccsa_ccdus ) and the Government of Canada for this unique and special opportunity. It’s a dream come true!
