Had a wonderful 48 hours or so in Nashville. Finally got to see the @thetimejumpersband do their Monday night thing a 3rd and Lindsley. Big ol’ Biscuit Love breakfast. The Worlds Greatest Anachronism, aka the Station Inn anchored among the high rises of the Gulch. Lunch at Arnold’s. Then a magical night at the @bluebirdcafetn for Old #1 at 50 with Verlon Thompson and Shawn Camp joined by Rodney Crowell and Emmylou Harris in tribute to Guy Clark. I’m so glad I got to see it.
Spent a delightful evening with @hayescarll and @thebrandyclark at the @narrowscenter last night. First time seeing both. Full 2 hour show, including all available permutations of 2 people and one stage. Loved the stories, loved the songs. Didn’t love how quickly 7am rolled up so this morning but that’s what coffee is for. Totally worth it.
Saw @charlie.parr for the first time at @backporchfest yesterday. Actually, my first and second time because I came back for his second set. I was blown away. That magic right thumb, the song writing and song choice, and most of all his clear, emotionally rich singing voice. I loved it and I can’t wait to see him again. Making the boys at @muleresonatorguitars proud, too. I am a fan
Got to see the incandescent @abbiegmusic tonight at the @thefalloutshelternorwood . She sings better than she plays and she plays better than she sings. Plus a bonus: I got to introduce her to @abbyhenrich , for that whole Abby squared thing. What a treat!
It was Earl Scruggs 100th birthday yesterday. The mighty @jerrydouglas celebrated at @theryman with the best damn bluegrass show I have ever seen. He brought an incredible gathering of talented friends and covered every era of Scruggs career from porch picking through the Circle Be Unbroken records that brought me to this music in the first place. 3 hours of musical bliss. They did Earl proud!
For 8 years we called this view home. As much as I miss the days of Papi and Mookie, I loved every minute we spent in that lyric little bandbox. We saw something like 100 games. We paid for game-lot parking once (Marathon Monday) and whole lot of meters but we never got a ticket. Fenway was a reliable source of joy in my life. Now we want to camp more and watch the revs next door, so our season ticket years are through. It all started as a gift from my beloved @yogiwithyarn , whose makes all the best things happen
