The first Dirty Pink Mule reso. I taught myself how to ride a motorcycle after this trip so I don’t have to follow @prideofgypsies in a car next time. He’s a great human making even better stories.
The Mule Tour continues with this flashback of the first trip. Currently at Detroit International awaiting the red eye flight to check in with the U.K Mule contingent. The first trip (pictured above) @davidandthedevil and I invaded the finest land in all the world, Scotland. Large historic rocks were lifted, an obscene amount of food was eaten, and great times were had with @vietnambarrie and @stuartm930 . This time Dave and I are headed to @peachguitars to talk about the guitars they are getting, hijinx had with @tagorechayne , @thecurseofkkhammond , @kbrblues , @sixstringtales and probably more. Then Isle of Skye. ♥️ Music connects people across time and cultures like nothing else can and the best way to best the algorithm is to show up and do it for the story. See you all soon.
The people have spoken - we need more tunes from The @natmyersyall . I traveled down to Kentucky to film these videos and if you think he sounds good here you should get yourself to a room he’s playing and hear that sweet goodness in person.
“All dobros are resonators but not all resonators are dobros. “ (Thanks, @patr.sun ) Mules, and other tricone or biscuit resonators, aren’t dobros. Dobros are resonators. These are dobro strings. Using them can damage a non-dobro.
They say “resonator” on the package but they are 16 gauge strings and too heavy for standard guitar tuning and open D. A “resonator” is anything with a cone in it. A dobro is a type of resonator that has a large cast aluminum bridge that transfers most of the string tension to the wooden sound well. Tricones and biscuit resonators don’t have this and the string tension is supported by the thin cones. This is the problem. Yes you can use heavy strings if you tune down to open C. But for most cases just use 12’s or 13’s. We really like polished strings like Daddario Flat Tops or SIT Silencers.
If you call any resonator you see a dobro it’s not a big deal, but if you’re a string manufacturer the label on the packaging needs to be correct. This isn’t a call out of any particular brands, they are all great. Almost every brand does it. These are just the ones I found when I searched for resonator strings.

I loaded up the Mule Bus full of guitars and hit the road for 18 days to bring resos to the people, no algorithm required. @arielposen was the finale. Stay tuned for more videos from our hang in the parking lot of @dallasguitarfestival , and also videos with @sljguitars , @monicavalli in her Austin chicken coop, @oliverbatescraven , @kent_crawley , and @bonesowens .
But wait there’s more! The tour continues Friday and I go international to visit our new dealer @peachguitars and a whole pile of Mule people in England and Scotland.
I have no tattoos but “HOBO WINE” might be 2nd after “NAT MYERS”.
He shows how to play it in the full you tube video. We recorded this in the basement of an Airbnb I rented. It used to be a speakeasy during prohibition.
The kind of song that will be played during Armageddon.
Earlier this year I drove the Mule Bus to Kentucky and recorded some songs with a friend of mine which confirmed my suspicions: @natmyersyall is an American treasure.
Bolt a single coil neck pickup to a steel drum with 17 gauge strings tuned to standard B and you get these ungodly tones from the masta-blasta Mr. @arielposen . He switches to the bridge mini half way through. This is the way. Video from @natashacornblatt
