i wrote the lyrics of 19:21 when the fentanyl epidemic became unavoidable in 2019. like many of you, i was confused and heartbroken to lose my job, welding school, and socialization when the pandemic hit. but none of that confusing heartbreak of loss compared to the lives lost to substance/addiction/mental health/accident— the list goes on. it still took me a year after acknowledging this concept to put down the bag, cuz i wanted to make things right. “i’ll start tomorrow, just one more day” rest in peace and solidarity to the souls who were not granted that one more day. the nature of our society is bringing grief out of all of us. as i recreate my own identity after trauma and collectively move thru the stages of this grief , i hope we all focus on ideas not words, and refrain from judging unfinished thought. we are allowed to change our mind. u are worthy of the help u deserve. u are a human with emotions and you are allowed to feel them. sending love to all of ya.
