Happy 5th Birthday Wild Rescues! . “If a trail is to be blazed, it is ‘send a ranger.’ If an animal is floundering in the snow, a ranger is sent to pull him out; if a bear is in the hotel, if a fire threatens a forest, if someone is to be saved, it is ‘send a ranger...’” — Stephen T. Mather, first Director of the National Park Service . Thank you for the continued support for this book and I hope it inspires you to get outside and celebrate our National Parks and the dedicated Park Rangers who work there! . @chireviewpress

Giveaway alert! In honor of Much Ado About Keanu’s 6-month birthday, I’m giving away two super fun Keanu coloring books. The rules are simple: Tag me or send me a screenshot of your review of the book online and I’ll enter your name into a raffle. It doesn’t even need to be a written review, a simple star rating on Amazon, Goodreads, B&N, etc will suffice. Easy peasy! I’ll announce winners on November 18th and you’ll have pages and pages of Keanu coloring fun for the holidays. Thanks to political madness, this offer is only open to US residents since international mail prices are off the charts right now. Looking forward to hearing from y’all! And happy happy joy joy that Much Ado About Keanu has been in the real world for a whole six months. Fearless. Badass. THE best at what she did. A real-life pioneer. An under-appreciated historic figure. A G.O.A.T. before the term had been invented. Question: Which of these phrases describes Dot Wilkinson? Answer: ALL of them. She began her life in poverty. She ended it as a self-made millionaire. She was the greatest catcher ever to play softball. If you haven’t read or listened to Dot’s story, you really, REALLY should. It was the honor of my lifetime to tell her story. Out at the Plate: The Dot Wilkinson Story… It’s available in hard cover, audiobook, ebook, and now paperback. Pick up a copy wherever fine books are sold. #softball #history #nonfiction #booktok #bookstagram

Out of the blue, being asked to write a blurb for a new book was so fun! I learned so much from these authors in these well-written interviews with women in the sports world. I wrote: “By approaching motherhood like professional athletes in training, these women give new insight into working full time while also being a good mother. They made me tear up, they made me smile, they made me swoon. And they definitely made me cheer!” Check out Tough As A Mother: Women in Sports, Working Moms, and the Shared Traits That Empower Us All, by Jenn Hildreth and Aimee Leone! @chireviewpress @triumphbooks

Happy Pub Week to “Together in Manzanar: The True Story of a Japanese Jewish Family in an American Concentration Camp” by Tracy Slater @good_shufu !! “Together in Manzanar” follows the Yonedas as they navigate forced removal and incarceration during WWII, bringing with them a series of painful choices and conflicting loyalties, upheavals and violence, and a quest to survive with their children safe, their family whole, and their ethics intact. A family’s story that is all too relevant today. Pick up a copy at your local bookstore. #japaneseamericanhistory #manzanar #mixedhistory #concentrationcamps

Toto – Toto IV (Columbia – FC 37728, 1982) Sure, Jude Warne was on recently to talk about her new book all about Boz Scaggs (“Lowdown”) — but of course, we got into the undeniable fact that if it weren’t for Boz assembling such a crack team of musicians for his solo albums, there might not have been a Toto at all. It’s still hot here on the East Coast, and I risked life and limb to bring you this red-hot cover in the middle of the heat and humidity we’re facing today. Don’t worry: the album jacket was only exposed to the elements for a mere 30 seconds. Listen to some Toto today, and consider checking out my full interview with Jude about all things Boz. #TotoIV #BozScaggs #VinylInTheHeat #NowSpinning

Happy Publication Day to “Roadside: My Journey to Iraq and the Long Road Home” by @dyllyp !! The newest release from our Lawrence Hill Books imprint. “Dylan writes his own story with stunning power and poetry, and makes a clear case that long-term survival for anyone can only be found in the deep connections we make to the people in our lives. This is one hell of a powerful, unputdownable read that will no doubt find comparisons to other great titles in the pantheon of war like “Dispatches”, “Jarhead”, and “The Things They Carried”.” —Rick Cleveland, Emmy-winning writer, “The West Wing” and “Six Feet Under” If you’re in the Los Angeles area tonight, join Dylan and actor Jeremy Tardy as they discuss Dylan’s new book at @villagewellcc in Culver City at 6:30 pm.
