The Nigerian Fashion industry is taking a new form, navigating the international market. One project I admire championing this cause is the Lagos X Paris fashion & design accelerator program(@lagosxparis ), which provides resources and opportunities for African designers to thrive globally. Pictures of Edition 2 opening night with the French Ambassador to Nigeria. And my industry colleagues, amazing talents and creatives ♥️ 🇳🇬x🇫🇷 #lagosxparis #contemporaryAfricanbusinessdevelopment #buymadeinnigeria #wearnigerianluxury #chimamakaimmaculateAli

I have so many thoughts about the Fashion industry, specifically the(Nigerian Fashion industry), so I created a substack to put down these thoughts. In the middle of the night, when I have nobody to Yap to about Fashion, I will write them down for you here, and maybe you can engage me a little. Alright, see you over at substack Bye Bye 👋🏽 Link in my Bio!

An @eki_kere princess 🧁💕 Eki Kere is a brand I would place somewhere adjacent to @commedesgarcons and @maisonmargiela not in imitation, but in its approach to tailoring, silhouette, and presentation. There is a certain intellectual rigor in the construction of the garments and the way the collections are presented that places it within that same school of thought. It speaks to the kind of customer who is drawn to fashion as language, people who appreciate clothes not just for beauty, but for perspective and form. I have spent time exploring why I feel so drawn to the brand, and I think it comes from memory. Growing up in Eastern Nigeria, rural area was not a place I visited once a year or read about in books. It was part of my earliest memories of beauty, clothing, and fashion. As I grew and moved to bigger cities like Lagos and Paris, I developed a more global perspective of fashion, yet the fabric of what I first knew still lives in me. When I see raffia, I think of my grandmother’s thatched house. When I see dresses that mimic wrappers, I think of the women in my hometown. When I see barefoot models, I feel nostalgia. So I ask myself: what does a girl from Abakaliki wear when her taste evolves into high fashion? Of course, it Eki Kere and other African designers.

Q1 was my Kofo jewellery set from @refaini_ , my pink flamingo 🦩 dress from @kadijuofficial , my pink beaded bag from @lisafolawiyo_studio and my animal print archival heel from @aminamuaddiofficial , and me against all odds. When I can wear African design from head to toe it's a good quarter and when you end the night @makolagos it's a good night 😴 #TheNigerianFlamingo 🇳🇬🦩 #wherenigerianluxury

To be loved is to be seen! For Valentine's, my Lady @aesthcookie booked me a Tropical Flower bouquet making class, she knows how much I love and advocate for the appreciation of anything made or grown in Nigeria 🇳🇬 and one of the ways I have come to do that is love and appreciate floral arrangements with flowers and plants that are indigenous to Nigeria. (@oamaresidence ) provided this incredible space with Afrocentric interior design, and Big ups to Mojola of (@flowersfloating234 ) for championing the appreciation of indigenous flowers. Thank you @adagestudioprojects for this cutesy baby Tee🩷💕

Honored to be speaking at the Luxury Resale Emporium(@theluxuryresaleemporium_ ). A circular fashion event in Africa hosted by (@zeclutter ) where we would explore Clear Space, Clear Mind, a discussion on decluttering with intention, rethinking our shopping habits, embracing resale, recognising how our physical spaces and closets can shape our clarity, creativity, values, and contribution to a more sustainable fashion ecosystem. @mynigeriancloset being at this event is a huge step for us as we are pioneering the Resale of Nigerian/African designers. For the first time, African designers and archival fashion will be represented at the biggest circular-economy trade show in West Africa. When I started @mynigeriancloset almost a year ago, I realised many pieces in my closet no longer served me yet they carried value, memory, and remarkable craftsmanship. That clarity became the birthplace for preserving African design while advancing sustainability through resale. Register to attend by visiting @theluxuryresaleemporium_ Bio Panel Talk Date: 29th of November 2:45pm Event Date: 29th -30th November 12-6pm Daily Location: 59 Raymond Njoku Street, Ikoyi. 1:00PM WAT.
