✨ITS ARRIVED✨
I’ve finally got my hands on the very first copy of my cookbook. It’s a beauty and I think you are going to ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT.
The book gives context to some of the different groups that settled in India for all manner of reasons. I focus on a different group per chapter. When it comes to cooking the recipes you can jump around chapters, there are no rules here. The are menu plans to help you and like my first book I have written the recipes in a way that will be easy to follow.
You can pre-order from my publisher - link in my bio - so that you will be the first to receive a signed copy.
I have lots of lovely events a scheduled from November until the end of the year and into the next so watch this space. It will make the perfect Christmas gift for anyone with interest in spices and how to cook with them from an Indian perspective.

Golden potatoes simmered with fragrant mustard & cumin seeds, curry leaves, garlic, ginger, green chilli and warming turmeric 🌿✨
A comforting Goan-style potato bhaji packed with flavour and heritage.
This recipe is from the Goan Portuguese section of my latest cookbook Seven Kitchens: A Journey Through India’s Culinary Heritage 🇮🇳
For the full recipe, grab your copy 📖
Tiny sprouts on potatoes are usually fine ✨🥔
Just make sure your spuds are still firm, unwrinkled, and free from green patches. Green or heavily sprouted potatoes can contain higher levels of solanine and chaconine, which you want to avoid.
A little kitchen wisdom before making my comforting Goan-style potato bhaji 💛 #SevenKitchens #IndianCooking #GoanFood #PotatoBhaji #CookbookReel

I recently had the pleasure of taking over the kitchen at the @thewilliamivpub in Albury as part of the promotion for my latest cookbook, Seven Kitchens: A Journey Through India’s Culinary Heritage.
Working alongside Michelin-starred chef @luke_spier and his fantastic team, we prepared a selection of dishes from the book for 38 guests, each of whom received a copy of one of my cookbooks.
I began the evening with a short talk about my journey, the inspiration behind the book, and the menu, and later had the chance to spend time chatting with everyone. The feedback was incredibly warm, and I’m truly grateful for such a special experience.
If you’re heading to the Surrey Hills, I’d highly recommend a visit to the @thewilliamivpub perfect paired with a countryside walk and a memorable lunch or supper. Their seasonal menu (which changes regularly) looked absolutely outstanding.

You’ve probably heard of moringa right?
It’s one of those super ingredients that is all over the internet. The leaf and the hanging pod, which is known as ‘drumstick’, are from a tree commonly called ‘The Miracle Tree’ or ‘Tree of Life’ - a bit of clue as to how good it is for you.
I’ve popped a post on my blog link in my bio about my recent trip to Kerala and a recipe using the moringa leaf and drumstick.
I’ve added a print out recipe card and videos to the post - very exciting to have these new plugins.

What a day celebrating Seven Kitchens! 👩🍳✨
I had the incredible opportunity to spend the day in the kitchen @thequeensclub alongside an amazing head chef @arekrysfobu and chef Wojtek, cooking 8 dishes from my book for two special events. We kicked things off with bowl food for 40 guests, paired with a talk and introduction to the dishes. After signing books, I moved into the main restaurant to host a sit-down dinner for another 30 guests, where I shared more about the inspiration behind the recipes.
It was exhausting and exhilarating in equal measure and gave me even more respect for chefs working in such fast-paced, high-pressure environments. I felt so well supported, and the atmosphere was both energised and wonderfully relaxed.
It was a real joy to meet everyone, from the brilliant kitchen team to all the members and guests who came along to support the evening. Thank you so much for buying my book and helping spread the word ❤️
I hope I showed that Indian home cooking really is achievable for everyone.

Hidden within Richmond Park, the Isabella Plantation began as a simple woodland area in the early 19th century. In the 1950s, it was transformed into a stunning ornamental garden, famous for its vibrant azaleas and rhododendrons.
Once a neglected patch, it’s now one of London’s most beautiful secret gardens bursting with colour each spring and carefully preserved for wildlife and visitors alike. 🌸✨
The time to visit is NOW - run, don’t walk and thank me later.

CASHEW TREES produce colourful fruits that shift from green to yellow, orange, or red as they ripen thanks to natural pigments like carotenoids and anthocyanins 🌈
But here’s the catch 👇
Cashews straight from the tree aren’t safe to eat. The shell contains a toxic oil (the same irritant found in poison ivy!) that can cause burns and rashes.
That’s why all cashews are roasted or steamed before reaching you.
Fun fact: the cashew apple is edible—the danger is in the shell, not the nut once processed!
MANGO TREES 🥭
There are thousands of mango varieties grown across India and the world
From creamy Alphonso mango to fragrant Kesar mango and juicy Tommy Atkins mango, each has its own unique flavour, texture, and colour.
Ranging from sweet to tangy, mangoes ripen from green to vibrant yellow, orange, and red.
I was unable to discover this variety and I think they are perhaps a month off being ready to eat. Anyone have any ideas what they could be? I was in north Kerala near to Karnataka.

So for those who recently started following me (👋🏻 to all my new Indian followers) as I recently had my new cookbook - SEVEN KITCHENS: A Journey Through India’s Culinary Heritage published - I’m on full promotion mode, talking about my book and demoing recipes from it across the UK and beyond.
I am passionate about showing the wider public how cooking with spices can elevate your cooking and it is more straightforward than you think. My book explores some of the different groups of people who came and settled in India and how their style of cooking style fused/merged with the local to create Indian cooking as we know today. Chapters are split into: Goan Portuguese, Indo Chinese, Mughal, Anglo Indian, Tibetan Nepalese, Syrian Christian, Parsi. Every recipe has a photo and history weaves throughout the book.
Last night I drove to the border of West Berkshire and Oxfordshire - to Goring Village Hall where Goring Library in collaboration with @wallingfordbookshop hosted the event. I demoed recipes from my book and talked about both my books, and of course my story, before signing copies for everyone to purchase at the end of the evening.
Beautifully organised. Thank you Gaye, Helen and team.
Have you got YOUR copy yet? It makes a great gift to self or others. Please share and spread the news. As I have yet to be on the TV 😉it takes a while and I can do with all the help I can get. Thanks everyone.
