From a first-time design student at the School of Fashion Design…
To a board member helping shape its future.
This Monday Motivation is a deeply personal one.
I came to the U.S. as an immigrant with a law degree—and a dream I hadn’t yet put into words. Enrolling @sfdbos in 2004 changed everything. It became my first creative home, the place where I learned everything I know about design and the fashion industry.
I still remember the quiet kindness of Jim Hannon (then director), whose warmth helped me feel truly welcome.
And friends like Donna Lee Savlen @savlen_gallery —who would drive me to and from school because we both lived on the North Shore. We shared car rides and so many conversations that still make me smile.
Jim later became my reference when I was fresh out of school and looking for jobs—proof that small acts of support make big ripples.
Years later, I met the ever-charismatic Jen Leclerc (now director), received the 2020 Distinguished Alumni Award, and was invited back to teach professional workshops. Full-circle moments that affirmed SFD’s deep belief in its students and community.
And now this: a front-page feature in both The Salem News and The Daily Item.
I’m honored to be appointed to the Board of Trustees—and proud to give back to the place that gave so much to me.

Today marks a celebration of strength, resilience, and the boundless possibilities that come with being a woman.
As I reflect on my own journey, I’m filled with gratitude for the courage to take a chance on myself.

After 7 years of studying to be a lawyer, I took a chance on myself and pursued a career for fashion.
It wasn’t and still isn’t easy, but it is always worth it!

Today, I am reminded of the strength that lies within every woman who dares to chase her dreams.
Here’s to the dreamers, the doers, and the fearless women who inspire us all.

Even with their different personalities, they both came up with the word “timeless” 🥹.
As a mom, there’s something deeply touching about realizing your children are quietly watching you become yourself — your confidence, creativity, joy, and how you move through the world.
To all the mothers out there: never underestimate what your children are learning from simply watching you live authentically. Sometimes the greatest thing we can teach them is to fully embrace who they are 🩷.
