🎉 Congratulations to Jennifer Fournier, Class of 2002 for being the 2026 Distinguished Alumnus Recipient! 🏆 The Distinguished Alumnus Award was created in 1966 on the occasion of the retirement of Donald Smith-Feeley, Founder and first President of the School of Fashion Design, and is awarded to an SFD alumnus who has been out of school for more than five years and is making a significant contribution in fashion design. 🌟 Jennifer Fournier is a professional costume designer and custom costumer who has spent over two decades translating her expertise in couture into the dynamic worlds of special effects, animatronics, and high-end fashion dolls. A proud 2002 alumna of the School of Fashion Design. Jennifer’s foundational couture studies at SFD paved the way for an extraordinary, multi-faceted career. 👕 After spending a decade working in the traditional fashion industry, including launching her own vintage inspired clothing line; Jennifer made a successful pivot into the entertainment industry. Operating out of Los Angeles, she creates animatronic costumes for giants like Disney Imagineering and Universal Studios. Her extensive television and film credits include special effects costume work for blockbuster franchises like Aquaman 2, Shazam 2, The Exorcist, as well as collaborating with the legendary and beloved Jim Henson Creature Shop on projects like The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, and Fraggle Rock. 🧵 In addition to her work on the big screen, Jennifer applies her couture training on a miniature scale, drafting patterns and samples for production quality fashion dolls, including OMG, Bratz, and Rainbow High. 🎉 Congratulations to Lucille Poirier, Class of 1980, for being the 2026 Isobel S. Sinesi Lifetime Achievement in Fashion Recipient! 🏆 The Isobel S. Sinesi Lifetime Achievement in Fashion Award was created in 1993 on the occasion of the 90th birthday of SFD Director Emeritus, Isobel Sinesi, and is awarded to an SFD alumnus who completed the Certificate program 25 years ago or more and is making a significant contribution in fashion design. 🌟 Lucille Poirier is a highly accomplished fashion design and product development executive with more than 45 years of experience building brands, leading design teams, and growing private label businesses for major U.S. retailers. Lucille began her career in fashion design working her way up through roles including Assistant Designer, Designer, Senior Designer, and Design Manager at companies such as GJM, Komar, Vanity Fair Mills, and Barad & Company. 👗As her career progressed, Lucille moved into senior leadership roles. At Hanesbrands, she successfully turned around a stalled development program and won the Avon account, growing it into a multimillion-dollar division. She led every aspect of the process, from design and development to sourcing, fit, production, and delivery, while building strong relationships with clients, vendors, and overseas factories. She continued to expand her influence at Leeward International, as Director of Design & Merchandising, where she led the development of private label and licensed apparel for major retailers including Walmart, Target, Avon, and JCPenney. 🎀Over the course of her career, Lucille has built a reputation not only for her design expertise and business leadership, but also for her ability to inspire teams, build strong partnerships, and create products that truly resonate in the marketplace. 🌊 SUMMER 2026: PATTERNMAKING I 💫 A beginner friendly course with no prerequisites. 📐 Patternmaking I teaches the principles, techniques, and practices of drafting flat patterns for women's garments. Students will be taught how to create block drafts, slopers, and patterns. Students will also learn how to grade patterns (sizing them up and down), and how to manipulate them to go from one design to another. ✂ TUESDAYS & THURSDAYS; Two in-person sessions available: 12:00 PM - 2:15 PM OR 07:45 PM – 10:00 PM .
