We took a journey through eight generations @domaine_andrebrunel for an exclusive tasting to unlock the secrets of the Rhône with winemaker Fabrice Brunel. Our afternoon started @avecchicago , where we enjoyed his wines paired with dishes from @chefdylanpatel . We were greeted with a pour of André Brunel Cuvée Bécassonne Cotes du Rhone 2024. It’s a medium-bodied white with a balance of floral & fruity notes. Fabrice guided us through his wines from Châteauneuf-du-Pape, highlighting old vines, minimal intervention, chemical-free farming & remarkable aging. He has built upon his father’s long-held belief that Grenache should not be masked by oak, instead using stainless steel & concrete to allow fruit, site & vintage to take center stage.  Our first course featured an endive & shaved apple salad paired with Les Cailloux Blanc Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2024. The wine is made with grapes from three plots. I enjoyed its aromatics & freshness. Our second course featured Vin de Pays Grenache 2024 which is a vibrant red with fruit flavors & soft tannins & Côtes du Rhône Cuvée Est-Ouest 2024 which is a medium-bodied red made with a blend of Grenache, Syrah & Cinsault paired perfectly with chorizo stuffed medjool dates & sweet potatoes with avocado. Our third course featured tastings of Cuvée Réservée Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2022, Les Cailloux Rouge Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2022 paired with a grilled butcher steak with brussel sprouts, winter squash tabbouleh with farro & smoked salmon escabeche tartine. The highlight of my day was the final pour of Les Cailloux Cuvée Centenaire Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2022 from 125 yr old vines. It’s full bodied with velvety tannins. It’s an exceptional wine. I was honored to taste it. To end our lunch, we enjoyed tasty cookies along with Fabrice’s hand-crafted Le Gin 13 Rhône Valley 2022. This was a unique way to end our wine tasting. The gin is grape based featuring 13 botanicals. I enjoyed the notes of lavender, rosemary, juniper, pepper & thyme along with its fresh citrus & aromatic notes. We had a beautiful afternoon of sips from Domaine André Brunel. Every wine featured centuries old traditional along with unmatched elegance. Cheers!

Every course was next-level, thoughtful, and full of intention. It was truly an honor to share the evening in New Buffalo with one of our favorite spots in the city. Cheers to nights like this. ⚓️

What a night. $504,000 raised for @alexslemonade to fund critical childhood cancer research and support families when they need it most. Grateful doesn’t even begin to cover it. Next Wednesday, July 30, Chef Dylan Patel of @avecchicago steps into our kitchen for the next round of our Chef Collaboration series. Avec helped shape the West Loop’s modern dining scene. As Chef de Cuisine, Dylan carries that legacy with precision and creativity. Now he’s bringing it to the griddle for a one-night-only Osaka-style okonomiyaki: ➡️ Tandoori lamb belly / tamarind okonomiyaki sauce / cilantro mint yogurt dressing / fenugreek He’ll be in house from 6 to 8 PM!
