With the exception of two trays situated at the far end of the row, everything in the first picture is tobacco. The next picture shows additional trays of tobacco located on the opposite side of the greenhouse. I am delighted to be growing such a large quantity of tobacco this year to distribute to community members. We are hosting a plant giveaway event for our community, and subsequently, we will provide plants to indigenous individuals outside of our community upon request. We continually monitor our social media accounts for messages to identify any plant requests. Our Sovereign Seedlings program involves cultivating a range of plants for which we have a substantial seed stock. We grow these plants into seedlings and distribute them to individuals throughout the year, primarily during late spring and early fall. Please monitor our Harmony Garden page for updates, and I will provide a link.

I spent the day yesterday concocting this incredible, beautiful seafood chowder inspired by Haida Gwaii seafood chowder
Smoked canned salmon
Fresh halibut
Rock cod
Oysters
Scallops
Herring Row
Seaweed
Carrots, Yukon, gold potatoes, wild, mushrooms, sunchokes, celeriac root & beetroot, gibger, garlic, leaks and sweet onions…
And I made the veggie broth out of all of those veggies plus I added bay leaves and other simple seasonings and to open the oysters out of their shells. I placed the oysters in their shells into the pot of broth. I was creating out of the vegetable scraps for the last 10 minutes of that, and then placed the oysters into the soup and then took the shells and put them to the side and then mixed that veggie broth in there and yeah, it’s an amazing soup.
Of course I put the seaweed in at the very last, as I was about to eat it and that came from up the coast, probably Bella Bella.

This post is a dedication to my dear grandmother who was a great cedar root basket weaver. She began her journey with weaving when she was 5 and continued weaving until she passed away at 65 years old. She left an incomplete basket that she was working on as she passed.
She was born in 1915 and she passed in 1979/1980. She never had her work presented in galleries, but she should have been shown internationally for her fine detailed works.
She has always been near me and very close to Senaqwila, whom she never met in this lifetime.

I just really don’t want to fight with women. I don’t. And it’s a daily battle with a lot of hurt folks out there.
Stop fighting with each other.
Enough already.
I am busy healing myself daily while I witness myself and femmes being attacked by other femmes.
Get help. Stop harming others. Especially when it comes to fighting each other, it is just plain senseless and exhausting.
Love is really truly the answer.
I had some wonderful visits with my dear chosen family in LA …. Spent some time with artists on the land and got to see some art from the west coast…. Funny how we find our way to these places and to vhects that connect us to home.
It’s been an epic family road trip and it’s been a learning journey.
Please share this post to help supprt the relief efforts for the Kipnuk community.
Indigenous peoples are always at the highest risks for devastation and the least supported, specifically under Amerikkka’s current dictatorship, so please, please, please do anything you can. Including sharing this post.
