On April 13th, I received a call that felt too unreal to process. It was Padma Shri Sri M. M. Keeravani sir, speaking about his wish to create an independent musical work with us in Kochi.
Exactly a month later came the much awaited days.He walked into our little jam room, and for the next three days, we witnessed a song being born right in front of us. From every phrase and embellishment to every string, guitar line, emotion, arrangement, and mix, everything carried his magical touch and clarity.
But beyond the legendary music we have admired all our lives, what moved us most was the human being behind it all.Despite creating larger than life scores that generations have grown up listening to, he sat with us 'little musicians from Kochi', with so much warmth, patience, humour, and fatherly affection that all our apprehensions simply melted away. We genuinely kept pinching ourselves every now and then just to make sure we weren’t dreaming.
Those three days gave us much more than a song.
They left us with guidance, life lessons, confidence, warmth, and memories we will carry forever.
Every single person who met him during those days walked away with a full heart. And when he left, all of us carried a quiet heaviness inside.
Forever grateful for this unforgettable experience and for the privilege of being a tiny part of your beautiful musical universe, Keeravani sir.
