"The idea was to create an atmosphere of things hidden in plain sight. Shadows that acts as curtains hiding the truth. The campus where the film is set in needs to act as a backdrop where things are not as what they seem. But along with that i believe making it in the most traditional sleek clean ‘dark thriller ish’ way of doing it was something i was just not drawn to at the moment. This is the only time I can really experiment in my own way, i dont care if it works or not i want to find out. This is what i said to myself and when with it. And so taking these very filmic tonalities my major struggle as the director and the dop as well was to come with an idea where how do i make this concept tangible and lived in? Where we are lighting things for heavily but it should not feel like lighting at all. If someone tell me why is this place not lit up or this is so raw honestly i believe then i have done my job. 'Aatreyi' has been one hell of an experience. It was more than we can explain in words and beyond our attempts to do the same. Rain? Feuds? Interruptions? You name it and we'd have a story to tell. This has been an immensely humbling experience, we only but definitely saw the tip of the iceberg; of the immensely mammoth task that is filmmaking during this shoot. "Uth Ja Adi was the point since when we actually started taking filmmaking seriously. We shot this film over the period of a week, just around the time the world had started recovering from the horrors of the pandemic and we, as B.sc media students were just about to graduate without one film to our name. It is so special for this very fact; the fact that we learnt a little about filmmaking through the process of filming this. Whatever I love about postproduction had started during the edit of this film. "Lakeerein" is one of the most special short films out of our store. Shot during the sweet winters of Pune, last year's December, it's based of a 'nazm' penned by my roommate @alphavik_ , and I still remember saying, "oh, I want to film it.." the first time she narrated it to me. Hello everyone!! We bring to you, Chaubees Frames, a space for the teeny tiny filmmaker that exists in all of us. Thursday, 20th July 2023: seated through the "Fundamentals of Direction" lecture, @blessonsunil , @a_a_s_h_a_a_n and I decided to do something fun; So here it is! Our kind of fun!! Us and a few of our friends, intend to document our favourite shots from the innumerable short stories we intend to tell, be it academic or eh, just for some fun. We would also love to tell your story, through our page (with due credits, trust us!) just to add some extra spice and nice, 'cause who wouldn't like that right? We hope to look back at this page, some years into the future, drenched in Nostalgia and think, "Ohh we're much better at it now"..
