I was finally back racing last weekend, at the Qatar International Baja. A mini desert rally, consisting of a prolouge and two stages over three days.  The terrain was tough, the navigation was tricky and the field of competitors was much stronger than I have raced against previously. My goal was just to finish, experience dunes for the first time and test out proper desert navigation.  After 460 km of timed stages I finished 9th overall out of a total of 57 bikes, among them about 10 Dakar riders. It was a fantastic experience and a great result after 1,5 years of minimal bike training because of injury at my previous rally.  Thanks to @113erik and @teamdovland for good norwegian representation, @rns.racing.uae for an awesome rental bike and service, and @qmmf.qa for organising the race and giving us the privilege of racing over such amazing landscapes. A 3rd Dakar Rally done and dusted! 🏜️ Big thanks to @redbull and the great crew at @threemperformancegroup for having me again at the greatest motorsport event on earth. An honour to shoot with the top Red Bull athletes I've looked up to for years, and inspiring to following the privateers who risk everything to succeed at the worlds hardest offroad race. Shukran Dakar!

Rallye Breslau Stage 6 heavy crash: it's not over until it's over... The final stage of the rally started with a 3,3km straight with no warnings in the roadbook, so I got on the 690 power. 2km into the 77km stage I hit a small dip in the road at high speed (93 kmh), bike bounced out at an angle I couldn't save and went down hard. The next thing I remember is sitting on the bike again riding at a snale pace, looking down and wondering why the hell I was wearing yellow riding gear. Because I didnt own yellow riding gear. I also had no idea what day or stage it was. I was completely dazed. My right wrist was hurting. After a while I remembered that @ties.22 gave me a set of yellow gear the day prior. Then I concluded it had to be the final stage of the rally. Better push on to the finish. 75 km remained. Every bump sent a stinging pain through my wrist. But what hurt more was seeing bike after bike overtake me, as I realised my current top 10 general result I had built up over the last six days was slipping away. But there was no saving it - I could only hope to reach the finish line in one piece at this point. Adrenaline is a wonderful thing! It kept me going for the next hour and a half until I reached the checkered flag and got a nice, strong and painful high five to my swollen hand from the flag waver. But the joy of finishing trumped the little extra pain. I was 39th for the day and ended up 12th in the general rankings of the rally. After the finish line celebrations @mala_racing took me to the hospital in Drawsko for x-rays and the doctor who didn't speak english found a fracture in my scaphoid bone in my right wrist, slapped a cast on it and waved me a friendly kiss goodbye. All in all a happy ending to this crazy adventure, as the crash could have left me with much worse injuries. I learned a lot and will take the time to reflect on this accident and how I can avoid these in the future. Another positive was that I was the first big bike (above 500cc) on the general rankings, which was a very welcomed step-up from my 3rd and 2nd place finishes in this class in my previous rallies. Looking forward to getting back on the bike in 6 weeks time 💪

Stage 4 / Night stage / stage 5: P20 / P9 / P9 The rally moved to a new location further north in Poland and we've had some great stages.  I was laying 5th on stage 4, but a time penalty for a missed waypoint sent me down to 20th for the day. There were over 80 waypoints we had to get and one small nav mistake cost me dearly. Definitely a teaching moment for me.  The next two stages were better navigation wise so I finally made top 10 again which was awesome. We also had a night stage which was the gnarliest riding I've ever done. So different to read the terrain in the dark, but it was an awesome experience only seeing what was right ahead of you with the occasional lighting strike lighting up the whole area for a split second

Stage 2 and 3: P25 and P20 Awesome days with pretty good riding, but a few nav mistakes and minor bike issues placed me further down the result list then I wanted to. The top riders here are super fast, so I need a really clean run to be able to break into the top 10 on the stages, which was my goal. But I'm learning a lot and having a hell of a good time on this awesome terrain #rallyraid #race #ktm

Stage 1: P6 Today's stage was the most fun I've had riding a motorcycle in my entire life. It was a mix of fast and flowy soft forest roads and huge 150 meter wide sand tracks through the forest with the biggest and deepest whoops I've ever seen. The polish army uses these tracks for training and their tanks are not kind to the terrain. I rode fast and navigated well and had a few freeloaders cling onto me because they didn't want to navigate themselves. It was a fun task to try and shake them off my back. What was not so much fun was meeting plenty of rally cars and racing trucks head on in a tight and fast forest section. Either they were ALL lost or it was a major fuck up from the organizer, sending these vehicles in our opposite direction on the race course. Either way, it got my heart pumping and adrenaline flowing, and I guess thats why we're all down here in the first place! #rally #rallyraid #ktm #690 #race #sand #whoops

@rallye.breslau Prologue: P12 The first part of Rallye Breslau is underway with a prologue of 9 km to determine the starting order for the next days first stage. It was a proper sprint, and despite 44 roadbook notes which is a lot in such a short stage, the navigation was easy so raw speed was the name of the game. As usual my KTM 690 is on the heavier side amongst the smaller dirt bikes on the starting list, so I'm happy with the result and with being the fastest big bike on the prologue. Excited for what's to come this week, as we move into the deep sand in the areas military training grounds ✊ #rally #rallyraid #ktm #690 #prologue #rallybike

The offroad season is in full swing and I'm busy getting ready for this years rally - the Rallye Breslau. A polish race, nicknamed the Dakar of Europe, for its super sandy conditions and plenty of Dakar styled trucks on the entry list that will chase us through the forests. Just spent the weekend with @teamnorrally training at Rena MX track up in Norway - a natural sand track, and speaking of nicknames, this one is infamously called the Lommel of the Nordics. Was a tough weekend wrestling the big 690 through the deep sand, but at the same time it was awesome to be reminded of what this bike is capable of 👊 📸 @mala_racing @rallye.breslau
