I painted Big Bird's house 🤩
I had the amazing opportunity to work with @3dx_scenic and @sesameplaceca to bring 123 Sesame Street to San Diego.
I was on the West Coast due to the pandemic and I saw a job pop up on the @guildofscenicartists job page. I saw that I knew the Charge Artist @rachaelcclaxton from my early days in Chicago so I dropped her a line.
I let her know I was on the west coast, available and willing to work. And then I played the best game of follow up I could with someone I hadn't talked to in ten years.
Thankfully I landed the job and knocked it out of the park on the initial install. Then I came back as the Lead On Site Scenic for the final one.
I faced challenges that I thought were too big to handle but I got through them. I advocated for my team and tried my best to adapt to many different management styles. Which was difficult, I haven't managed anyone but myself since pre-pandemic times.
I wasn't always successful and there were some very hard days but I did it anyway.
I did it for two reasons. One, I want to buy a car and that requires money. Two, this will bring magical wonder and joy to thousands of people.
And those two goals were what I leaned on when it got bleak and I was exhausted.
I also relied on my friends. I literally couldn't have gone through this whole experience without my support team. They built me up, told me how proud they were, and reminded me of my whys. For that I'm eternally grateful.
I was always the kid who rose with the sun. While I waited for my sister to get up and ready, Mom would put on Sesame Street to keep me occupied. The Muppets were my early morning companions and they've left such a large impact on my life.
I'm a very lucky and talented lady. To work on such an iconic intellectual property that means so much to me is something truly special.
P.s. Big Bird is my favorite, I cry when I hear "Sing " performed over the park speakers.

The last headshots I did were during the pandemic and I've lived thru at least 10 lifetimes since then. It's helpful to have a couple recent headshots at the ready, you never know what might be around the corner

Back in December my travels brought me to Kansas City, Missouri for a gig that's been on the top of my list for a bit!
One of the cool things about having theatre friends in college is you get to see them graduate, grow and expand in a bunch of different directions.
One of the journeys that's been a pleasure to watch is Kinzie's. @kinzie_elizabeth__ is now a thriving photographer and business owner. We've been looking for a way to collaborate for years and then universe set up the perfect timing.
The @empowermentstudio__ team was looking for a creative refresh and a more efficient system for their themed scenery.
So Kinzie and The Studio hosted me as an Artist in Residence in the beginning of December.
The team handed me their big dreams and I got to work. I hope everyone has a client as thrilled with the final product as Kinzie
I was grateful for the opportunity to reconnect. We even got to see the new Wicked movie together, what a treat for these two theatre nerds.

Delivering your final paint treatment by photo call is easily one of the best moves you can make as the Charge Artist to benefit the entire theatre company.
this goal will help the production team get better portfolio pictures, help the marketing team promote the show and the archivist will have an accurate representation of the scenery without booking an extra photo call.
Be sure to chat with your scenic designer, tech director, and production manager about this goal so they can help support a schedule shift.
A bonus for efficiency, it also makes your shop available to move on to the next project sooner.
