One of my favorite scenic art tricks is a Translucency. I did this project in grad school - an 8’x8’ painting on muslin. I painted the front with only grayscale and all the color was applied on the back. If it is only lit from the front, it stays black and white, and the colors come through when it is lit from the back. #painteranne
Matilda at Sanford School, final show was today! The set was built by the students over about 40 hours of crew time. This production had many challenges thrown at it - including winter weather and illness. But these students stood up to all of them and did an amazing job.

In honor of the incoming Ice storm, I share the project I did at Longwood Gardens in 2021. I spent many days helping make the “ice” that decorated the main conservatory. The plexiglass cutouts with window film were assembled and lit, creating a beautiful ice wonderland. #painteranne
Office for the day. First time for me- painting 30’ tall walls entirely covered with seamless muslin. Next for the REP: Art. Directed by Michael Gotch. Designed by Christopher and Justin Swader. Painted with the assistance of Juliette Hunter. #painteranne
Photos from Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia,PA. I am such a sucker for paint and architectural research and this place is the embodiment of “death and destruction.” #painteranne
