We had 4 hours rehearsal in preparation for our June gigs. The newly roofed Chapel of Rest provided a wonderful space to sing in.

On Good Friday 1961 my uncle Richard drove down the M1 going home from Birmingham to Gerard’s Cross for Easter. He headed down it the wrong way and didn’t survive the collision. My grandmother ‘Ma’ never recovered and spent years trying to contact Richard through spiritualists My cousin gave me a suitcase in which Ma had kept Richard’s things. It contained a note. @annacadyartist and I made a seven part film installation two years ago @chapelsofrest in response to the contents of the suitcase, the note and two red notebooks holding Ma’s thoughts and messages to Richard. A BIG thank you to all who helped our last few days of fabulous festive events be wonderful and inspiring time at and for our Trinity Rooms.... We had two fundraisers with the Phoenix Choir at St Laurence and the Stroud Folk Choir at our hub. As well as the annual St Lucia parade taking place, followed by warming treats and beautiful singing. Delicious bake sales, our homemade surplus chutneys, and volunteer crafted gifts also contributed to our Buy The Building Campaign. Plus the wonderful performers fundraised in support of us at the Stroud Market on Saturday. We also had our Christmas Party with a difference exploring wealth, through creativity and community collaboration with stalls, games, crafts, theatre for all the family in partnership with S.I.S.T.E.R. and PRALER. Oh and our tree is also now up and decorated too. Very excited to announce that I will be doing another live show of my Caribbean production in my beloved adopted hometown of Stroud! Sunday Sept. 28th in the stunning @chapelsofrest in Bisley Road Cemetary... which is now a nature reserve! 🛥️🏝️ For one evening, jump on an imaginary boat and embark on a journey from reef to ridge, through the multi-species voices of distant Caribbean islands... Listen to the reefs and the mangroves themselves, and stories from stewards of these lands and waters: fishermen turned coral gardeners, dedicated marine biologists and mangrove guardians. The yellow sweater and the ties may be taken and used if liked. His Mother” I found this handwritten note in a suitcase my cousin gave me on the day of Dad’s funeral. It was written by my grandmother who yearned and searched for her son Richard after he died in an accident at 25 in 1961.
