hi loves:) maren @maren.curtis.art recently interviewed me for her website survivorsartsandwritingcollective.com [previously killyourr*pist.net] and i’m so excited to share this conversation with you<3
i really urge you all to check out her website [one of my favorite websites ever, so i’m so honored], it’s a safe space for “any emotion surrounding sexual violence, but especially rage,” which “is an instrumental part of justice” as written by maren herself. ever since meeting the wonderful maren at risd, she’d become one of my biggest inspirations. not just with the practice of making, but her approach to making as a form of processing. i’m so proud to call her my friend.
anyhoosies! so excited to share this with you all,, and please check out SURVIVORSARTSANDWRITINGCOLLECTIVE.COM<3 have a lovely day:)

being stripped of my individuality growing up queer in a collectivist culture made me learn that not only is my self-expression a representation of my family, my social groups, and the entirety of my asian community, but also a form of resistance where the queer body is on the line.
