NARS Foundation is pleased to present 𝙍𝙞𝙞𝙨 𝘽𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙝: 𝙄𝙣 𝙍𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙗𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣, a solo exhibition by NARS alum Heather Renée Russ @heather_renee_russ (Season II & III, 2024). 𝘙𝘪𝘪𝘴 𝘉𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘩: 𝘐𝘯 𝘙𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘣𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 centers the historically queer People’s Beach in New York City, increasingly threatened by climate change and development. Through experimental photography, installation, and refracted light projection, Russ traces overlaps between queer precarity and ecological vulnerability. Fragmented imagery echoes the complexity of queer experience and celebrates the rainbowed spaces queers create, spaces like the People’s Beach, that often exist outside the understanding of the machine. The exhibition will be on view from May 29 through June 26. ✧ Opening Reception: Friday, June 5, 6–9 PM ✧ Artist Talk with Erica Dawn Lyle: Friday, June 12, 6–7 PM ✧ NARS Project Space, 2nd Floor Link in bio to learn more! 𝑵𝑶𝑾 𝑾𝑬'𝑹𝑬 𝑻𝑨𝑳𝑲𝑰𝑵’! For our first ASAP for Season II, 2026, artists-in-residence Jisoo Chung (@jigu.nee ) and Rowan van As (@rowanvanas ) led a participatory performance talkshow called 'Now We're Talkin’'. Two AiRs were paired up randomly to each sit inside a shopping cart and answer questions spanning from philosophical to personal. The questions become the starting point of a short conversation amongst the group. During the performance, one host served art supplies in wine glasses, along with "visas" printed on clear film as an attempt to lighten the weight of the system that impacts artists' lives in in a playful manner. Thank you Jisoo and Rowan for facilitating this session!
