The meaningful conversations, the shared moments and the warm smiles, every bit of it united us for one powerful cause. When we come together with a shared purpose the impact is profound. The awareness we create, the conversations that enlighten us, the stories that move us these are the moments that remind us why we started and why we must keep going. Deepa Mehta was completely won over by the concept of Chai for Cancer and followed the campaign passionately and very closely. The last time we met, just three weeks before she passed away leaving us all oh so bereft and heart broken, was at my home and she was excitedly planning the Adda she wanted to host around Diwali. Amma, this time my Adda will be bigger and better and let’s do that Saree Mela wala Adda we’ve been talking about … oh Deepa how much you were missed on Sunday as we brought in Season 13. But I made sure there was a little bit of you with me Deepa, right there and close to my heart like you always will be ❤️ Yes, wearing the Chai for Cancer Choli you designed specially for me… with those delicately embroidered little cups full of steaming chai representing your love and warmth. Chai for Cancer Season 13 Launched! It almost felt like a homecoming. Every year, a new season of Chai for Cancer is launched on the second Sunday of May bringing together a community bound by compassion, hope and purpose. This year it was The Taj Mahal Tea House in Bandra that stood in for Viji’s home which anyway she does it her home away from home. With the steadfast support of friends and well-wishers, some of whom have stood with the campaign since its very inception and many who have joined along the way, the gathering felt like a close-knit family coming together once again, raising their cups for the cause. The Chai for Cancer Launch of Season 13 on May 10 in Mumbai, was an afternoon filled with warmth, laughter, conversations and camaraderie, as people came together so generously in solidarity for a cause that continues to touch countless lives. What began as a Sunday morning Adda effortlessly stretched well into the afternoon, celebrated on Mother’s Day making it even more special! We are deeply humbled by how far Chai for Cancer has come. What started years ago as a modest initiative to create awareness and raise funds for the well-being of cancer patients has today grown into a movement embraced by friends, families, members of the medical fraternity, supporters from social media and countless well-wishers who believe in the cause. It is this continued love and encouragement that inspires us to keep going further with every season. A special mention to our long-time Radio Partners, Red FM, who continue to amplify our message year after year, helping Chai for Cancer grow stronger with every passing season. Not my words here in this post nor the photographs I’m sharing can describe Sunday morning ( that went well into the afternoon ) at the Taj Mahal Tea House, in all its glory and do justice to the warmth, love, laughter and the generosity of spirit it was suffused with. The Launch Adda Chai for Cancer Season 13! That you all came on a Sunday morning, on Mother’s Day, from all over the city, once again, as you have been doing for the last 12 years and raised your cups together for this cause left my cup of joy and gratitude overflowing. When friends support your cause you know you’re doing it right. When friends time and again support your cause you know once again you’re on the right track and continuing to do right. Chai for Cancer began as a hesitant and modest attempt to create awareness and raise funds for the well being of cancer patients we work. Today this cause has been owned by friends, family, the medical fraternity, my friends from Social Media I’ve never even met and just about anyone who has heard about it. With steadfast support from all of you and our Radio Partners Red FM for all these years continuing to amplify our voice I know Chai for Cancer is here to stay … because yes, The Season of Hope is Eternal.

When my worlds collide with one another … that’s what Chai for Cancer is all about ! The coming together of those whose presence in my life is my biggest blessing and that coming together an even bigger blessing . Because what results then is this outpouring of understanding and appreciation of the cause they’ve espoused along with me. Unquestioningly and so generously. Sunday’s Season 13 Launch Adda saw just this … friends I’ve made over the last 50 plus years in this city, old and new and now their children too, friends from my world of cancer and medicine, from my days in selling books, friends from the world of patient advocacy, my friends in media , my friends in the film world, my neighbors and my own family … everyone raised a cup in the name of a patient in need . @chaiforcancer @cmlgistsupportgroup
