As a film director, looking back at projects with perspective always fills me with gratitude that I have a job where I am free to imagine & create with friends. From an empty canvas of a location, together with the DP, Stylist, Colourists, Talents & so many more people, we create magic. And for that to crossover with keeping heritage alive? Truly, I am blessed.

This film was particularly unique from the very start of pre-production, because we were attempting something that no Malaysian Film Production ever attempted or at the very least successfully executed. And i found myself sitting on a ticking timer about to go off. We had 4 missions and a film to shoot. Each mission has its own difficulty levels. The stakes go higher as the mission number goes.
A couple of people had told me to bring the tippy top tier crew i can find in order to pull this off. But i say, i need dreamers and daredevils. My crew are the most humble of human beings, some are rare gems, some are as mysterious as a snow leopard, but they’re all exceptionally excellent at what they do, our limitations were the tools we had on hand, we’d literally maxed out the capability of the equipments we had on hand.
Sure we had nay sayers along the way, some of them were even part of the missions we had to execute. (Not gonna name names) But i had a visionary at the helm ( @adrianteh19 ) and i felt like i needed to defend his vision, and momma raised me to be a friggin warrior.
It’s been 2 years and 2 months since i began my full journey as a cinematographer in films, and i am so so blessed to have worked with some of the best dreamers, daredevils, visionaries and pioneers there are in the business. You complete me !!

Throwing it back to this wild one earlier this year, juggling both operating and focus pulling was no joke, but hands down one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve had. Still can’t put into words how grateful I am for the trust and the chance to grow through it all.
Big shoutout to @mabudinh for being such a solid mentor, and to the team for the constant support in bringing everything to life. So thankful to have crossed paths with so many good souls on set, your energy really made it. What a ride 🖤✨
