To all my friends who are mothers - of furbabies and human babies - to your compassion, grace, and the selfless caretaking you do every day. May your day be as beautiful as you. 🫶 #happymothersday #mothersdaybrunch @darcie.goodman@dam_rz
This photo is sensory for me - 7:25am with @splitseatours leaving from #split - its the cool breeze tangling my hair with sea salt, a salty mist greeting sun-kissed skin, the dance of waves in a sea glistening like diamonds as we cut through, the weight of those clouds heavy with rain, and lingering early morning storms trying to reveal morning sun… i can look at this photo a hundred times and be transported to the anticipation of the day at Sea ahead. #nofilter #adriaticsea
“Whenever the people are well informed, they can be trusted with their own government; that whenever things get so far wrong as to attract their notice, they may be relied on to set them to rights.” Thomas Jefferson, Jan. 8, 1789. From a letter to Richard Price - the follow on question from the audience tonight was - what happens when ‘the people’ pick their own tyrannical government? What happens next?
I had the privilege of attending a 90 minute talk with the French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs today. His keynote remarks displayed narrative mastery of the current geo-political moment, how it relates to recent history, end of the Cold War and the rebuilding of Europe after the first and second world wars—in comparison to ancient history, the Peloponnesian War between two great powers (Sparta and Athens) and a rising third power (Macedonia)—and the vision for Europe’s future on the world stage. His speech was sheer brilliance at a time when oratory brilliance is spare. There were so many golden insight nuggets sprinkled throughout, but none moreso than when he finished his thesis argument that the world is looking for a third power, trusted, steady, a democratic stronghold in Europe so as not to have to choose between incumbent great power (the United States) and the rising-returning power (China)… “there are at least 10 candidate countries currently waiting to join the European Union,“ he said, “not including Canada and Iceland.” I had to stop my urge to pipe up - ”and NYC!” 🔥😂👏
