Christians for a Free Palestine Los Angeles is answering the call to read and respond to the newly released Kairos Palestine II document - a living confession born from the heart of Palestinian Christian suffering. The Palestinian Christian Ecumenical Initiative released the document November 14, 2025 as a cry to the global church for help and hope. "Kairos" is Greek for "a decisive or opportune moment." "This new Kairos document (the first document was in 2009) provides a renewed theological and spiritual reading of the Palestinian and global reality. It describes our present as a time of genocide, ethnic cleansing, and forced displacement unfolding before the eyes of the world. It affirms that this moment demands a new stance—one of faith, truth, and responsibility." We study this document to hear these voices from the land of the birth of Jesus. Palestinian Christians trace their roots to the first Christians. We study their confession to stand in solidarity with our suffering— but resilient—Christian siblings and heed the invitation to join them in advocating for justice and peace for every living being between the river and the sea. The United States, with Israel, has entered another illegal war of regime change, this time in Iran. You may have noticed top military leaders in the U.S., including the Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, are also openly promoting Christian Zionist “end times” narratives about this being a war of “Armageddon,” to bring the “return of Jesus Christ.” We knew that Israel wouldn’t stop with Gaza, and we knew Christian Zionists, like CUFI (Christians United for Israel) have been lobbying for regime change in Iran for years. Now, our faith is being used to justify and motivate the US war machine. How do we, as Christians, and as people living in the U.S., respond to this war?
