Some 3 thousand years ago , in what is now Mexico, Guatemala, Belice, Honduras and El Salvador ,team of players devised a game played with a rubber ball. The significance of this wondrous material cannot be overstated. When Europeans first bouncing rubber balls , they were amazed. How did ancient people learn the milky plant juices could be transformed into a bouncing ball? That discovery is shrouded in misters, I can only speculate, but there is not mystery to the result. I have been working in a series of drawings/paintings which serves as inspiration for the Mesoamerican murals inside the chamber at the Ministry of awe @moaphilly . The final pieces are meant to be a collection of artwork that will illustrate both , a cĂłdice for people to interpret the art installation inside the building explaining the meaning of the tonalpohualli or book of destinies and also will be used for the printing of an actual, practical Mesoamerican almanac .
