To our LGBTQ+ community, allies, partners, and supporters,
Like many throughout our city, we were saddened to learn of the cancellation of this year’s Pride Festival. For so many people, Pride is more than an event; it is a meaningful opportunity to celebrate identity, connect with community, honor our history, and experience the joy of being fully seen and affirmed.
We recognize that this news may bring disappointment, sadness, frustration, and uncertainty. Pride spaces hold deep emotional significance, especially for those who rely on these moments for visibility, healing, connection, and belonging.
At The LGBTQ Center Long Beach, we want our community to know: Pride is not defined by a single festival. It endures within each of us, in our resilience, our advocacy, and our ongoing efforts to create safe, authentic spaces for LGBTQ+ people.
Our community has always known how to persevere through challenge and disappointment. Even in difficult moments, we continue to show up for one another with compassion, courage, and hope. That spirit cannot be canceled.
I also want to acknowledge the incredible staff, volunteers, community leaders, advocates, and supporters who work tirelessly every day to uplift LGBTQ+ lives throughout Long Beach. Their dedication and heart are what sustain this community year-round, far beyond any single event.
The LGBTQ Center Long Beach remains steadfast in our commitment to uplift, empower, and stand with our community, especially in challenging times when connection matters most.
We encourage everyone to continue finding ways to celebrate authentically, support one another, and hold onto the joy, strength, and Pride that define our community.
The Long Beach Pride Parade is still scheduled for Sunday, and now more than ever, our presence matters. We encourage our community, allies, and supporters to show up, stand together, and be visible. In moments of disappointment and uncertainty, community presence becomes an act of resilience, unity, and Pride itself.
With care and solidarity,
