Week-ends love, beauty by @wilfridalmendra and some words by Naomi Shihab Nye

So much of any year is flammable,
lists of vegetables, partial poems.
Orange swirling flame of days,
so little is a stone.
Where there was something and suddenly isn’t,
an absence shouts, celebrates, leaves a space.
I begin again with the smallest numbers.
Quick dance, shuffle of losses and leaves,
only the things I didn’t do
crackle after the blazing dies.
The Parodie chapter arrived to an end today 🎠 . Parodie was 7 months of exhibitions @cnacmagasin , around 70 pieces on 3000m2 , welcoming thousands of visitors, with more than 20 press articles. The journey was long, not without doubts, stress or tiredness, but to work on this scale project was a crazy chance for me. Thank you @celine___kopp for the trust and the relation to artist and curating. @cnacmagasin was a dream when I was a student, because as you know, I like architecture, history and challenge ahahhaha. Thank you so much to the set up team who was a real dream team and to the fabulous régisseur @johann.thoumazeau . Thank you to the Magasin team for having kept the show sparkling over the months and to welcome so many visitors, schools and kids! Hope Parodie, the Jesters, Shirley, Pierrote will stay in your heart. Thank you to the friends who came. Thank you to my family for their support and love @michail_novotny@henriette.bena 🩷Thank you to our partners @platoostrava@fondationdesartistes@adagp_ 🥚As an Easter gift for Parodie , 2 images from the shooting we did last December with queen @boris_camaca . See you 🌹

Julie Béna at Le Magasin CNAC, Grenoble
Curated by Céline Kopp
🗓️ Until April 5, 2026
Parodie unfolds as a vivid constellation of worlds where cabaret lit by nocturnal electricity meets the exuberance of the fairground, where talk show excess slips into fable, and innocence twists into something darker. Bringing together a significant body of works created between 2015 and today, this major solo exhibition traces nearly a decade of Béna’s evolving practice.
The space becomes inhabited by a shifting cast of characters, sometimes imagined, sometimes embodied by the artist herself, emerging from fleeting, unstable realities. Burlesque and popular forms intertwine with dreamlike and nocturnal states, where fantasy, the unconscious, and desire move between the joyful and the unsettling.
With a mischievous edge, Béna blurs the contours of truth, weaving together the personal and the political through doubles, masks, and theatrical exaggeration. Her recurring use of cabaret and fairy tale operates through allegory and hyperbole, offering a sharp yet playful reflection on social realities. In this universe, reality and fiction continuously dissolve into one another.
At once retrospective and newly imagined, Parodie transforms the exhibition into an immersive, shape-shifting environment where intimacy collides with collective memory and iconic figures, revealing the full breadth of Béna’s singular, performative language.
