peace y'all. STEAM is back! & this time broadcasting on two stations; we're live on KTRU 96.1 fm (@ktruriceradio ) on saturdays from 8 am to 9 am and now on Ice House Radio (@icehouseradio ) every fourth wednesday from 7 pm to 8 pm at Echoes (@echoeshtx ), 900 richmond ave. if you're unfamiliar with the show, i play and prioritize modern and contemporary jazz music. what i would classify as anything after 1980, preferably 1990, locally, nationally, globally. all subgenres you would find in the realm of jazz from free to jazz house to spiritual to fusion. i record all of the shows (or as many as possible without technical difficulties) and invite guests to spin. so if you're a contemporary jazz fan looking to spin at Ice House Radio, hit my line and you can hold the slot or go back to back with me! if you're wanting to be on 96.1 fm with me, we'll schedule a day for you to guest and be on the air with me at KTRU. all that being said, i hope you enjoy the music! i dedicate my ears to a lot of jazz but i love hearing what friends and new friends are listening to. peace again! feel free to join me on the air and in person!

Now in the archive: THF Presents w/ yaajé & blujay // 25.01.26 - recorded live at THF radio in Berlin. Listen back to this genre-spanning guest mix from the two Houston, Texas based DJs - yaajé & blujay. @brianablu is a multimedia journalist, designer and cultural worker rooted in Texas. She spins a variety of soul, jazz, funk and alternative sounds that connect genres and diasporas. Yaaje (@cds__j ) is the musical alias of Houston-based interdisciplinary artist Corey Sherrard Jr. His music explores afro-ambience, hip hop, jazz, electronic, and experimental sound and his mixes explore genre-bending black music around the world, with an emphasis on post-80s black classical music. Catch them both over at @icehouseradio where they are resident DJs every fourth Tuesday and Wednesday. Link in bio. THF Radio is a community radio broadcasting from the former Tempelhof Airport in Berlin. Follow us: @thfradio

selections from the bootlegs series i've been collecting tapes since i found out about @dirtytapes in high school. more recently, i've been recording my own music projects on tape, original work direct to tape, and sounds/mixes/interviews/talks/xyz from youtube or wherever else. the j-cards on these bootlegs are pieces together in illustrator by myself and the bootlegs themselves are for personal playback in-studio or presented in spaces as art objects. my hope with this is that it adds another dimension to how we come into contact with a new auditory canon, field of research, or sonic language in an exhibition space. i'm enamored by physical media... a record cover, cd booklet, j-card, book design... what i choose to record onto tape for this series is a public reflection of where my energy and attention live. what does your collection tell you about what you treasure? you think you know what you're about until what you collect tells you what you truly seek. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - these pieces were a part of a larger piece entitled "100 Bootlegs" in the group show TIME STAMP. this show featured myself, @phayln , and @strwbrrykaewi at @sanmanstudios to cap the artist-in-residence program. the show ran from november 10, 2025 - january 11, 2026.

selected works from collapsed literature series. my intent with this series has been to further explore the abstraction of language and information. leading up to creating these pieces, i had already engaged with cassette tape as a medium for bridging my research, design work, and presentation of both. for these, i revisited my personal library of epubs and pdfs and "collapsed" those pages into single page pieces. i consider the sheer volume of information available for us to access online, what we forget, what we retain, what we see, and what we don't see. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - these pieces showed at @projectrowhouses for round 59 from october 18, 2025 - february 15, 2026.

“Corey De’Juan Sherrard Jr (born 1996, Houston, TX) engineers a developing system for composing songs and generating objects that respond to the deficit of black radical propaganda within a world culture. He began producing music in 2013 and, through undergrad, exploring different mediums/materials for design and artmaking. He graduated from the University of Houston with a BS in Digital Media, consults at the Kinder High School for Performing and Visual arts and spins jazz at KTRU-LP 96.1 FM for his weekly show STEAM. Sherrard showed his first solo exhibition Songbook for Black Constellations at Sanman Studios in 2023 and has since shown at Sabine Street Studios, Houston Endowment, Cleve Carney Museum of Art, and the George Washington Carver Museum and Cultural Center. He is a Jones Artist Awardee and an alumni of the School for Poetic Computation.” Come join us November 20th in room 110 in the fine arts building!

Blurred barriers in ‘Public Index’ hover over lines of text and waves of media, reminding us that if it is challenging to read, it is challenging to retain. Corey De’juan Sherrard jr effortlessly fills the row house ambiance with a balance of tangible history and intangible knowledge. This installation will be on view until February 15, 2026. Visitor hours are 12pm-5pm on Wednesday - Sunday. Free Tickets available online. 🎟️ Artist: @cds__j Photographer: @visibleinlight See more photos online @projectrowhouses
