Come and join us for second event of the Dance and Legal Materialities Network, which focuses on Archiving movement and moving in the archives. This event will feature three short provocations from dance artists and researchers Russell Patrick Brown, Heni Hale, and Sarah Whatley. No dance experience is needed and all levels of participation (including no participation!) are invited. There will be space for sharing and discussion and all practitioners/researchers/artists interested in legal materialities, movement, embodied practices, libraries and social justice and more, are welcome. The Dance and Legal Materialities Network explores how dance can animate legal materials. Led by IALS librarian Marilyn Clarke, legal researcher Marie Andree Jacob and dance artist/researcher Anna Macdonald, this new network is part of the Law and Humanities Hub at IALS. It brings dance methods into conversation with legal texts — asking how embodied practice can open new, decolonial ways of reading, writing, amending and archiving law. This short film showcases the RomaPlaceAge training “Addressing Roma Health Inequalities through Community Co-Research” held across the UK in June and July 2025. Through workshops in #Luton, #Peterborough, and #Govanhill (#Glasgow), Roma co-researchers explored creative and participatory ways of documenting everyday experiences of place, health, and ageing — using go-along interviews and photo diaries as tools for shared learning and storytelling. The training forms part of the RomaPlaceAge Project, funded by the UKRI AHRC Mobilising Community Assets to Tackle Health Inequalities Programme (Grant AH/Z505444/1). Learn more about our project and resources: 🎥The video was filmed and produced by Omar Aborida. #Roma #Health #AHRC #Research #CommunityResearchers #oldergeneration #ageing

We've been working on developing this mini-site with a collection of articles and films on Amerta Movement by practitioners, researchers, artists and authors in Indonesia. Amerta Movement is described by its founder Suprapto (Prapto) Suryodarmo (2009) as ‘movement meditation, or dance meditation’ with the elements of ‘free movement, Vipassana, and surrendering.’ The site is bi-lingual and you can download a pdf of articles to read, just go to the end of each contribution. There is also a list of pre-existing writing and videos from Indonesia available to download. Hopefully this collection can grow over time. We welcome your reflections and more contributions. Thanks @samsulmaarif6202 @ika.iku.ribka @crcs_ugm Abdi and all those who contributed including @alexandergebe @dody_eskha_aquinas_romanus_ @ssephiapf @ayu_wardani01 @djarotbd @cyntia.ingrid0408 @padepokan_seni_tjipta_boedaja @oniltasman @rifa_fo @agusbimoprayitno @nomadic70 @satrio_panji @maskartmiranti amongst many more. So many to thank who helped this come to life, listed more fully on the site. With thanks to Pak Prapto for inspiring the project.

Day 2 of the #DanceResearchMatters festival. Just a few highlights. But another fantastic day of provocations, practice sharing, collective thinking and futuring! . An absolute pleasure to chair ‘The current and future role of dance research peer reviewed journals’ round table. Fantastic offerings and response to the prompts. More to come! . @cdare_cu @covuni @sanddunes81
