Today, the Calgary Construction Association was pleased to host our 4th Annual Premier’s Luncheon, bringing together industry leaders for a timely discussion—just one day after the Government of Alberta tabled Budget 2026.
We were honoured to welcome Premier Danielle Smith for a fireside chat, where we explored the challenges and opportunities shaping Alberta’s construction industry. Discussions focused on public procurement, workforce development, apprenticeship training, and infrastructure investment—all essential to ensuring Alberta can keep pace with record population growth and continued economic expansion.
As Alberta navigates global economic uncertainty, evolving trade dynamics, and sustained growth pressures, stable infrastructure funding and a strong skilled workforce remain critical to delivering the schools, healthcare facilities, housing-enabling infrastructure, and transportation systems our communities depend on.
A special thank you to our members for attending and to our many sponsors for making today’s event possible.
The Calgary Construction Association will continue to work closely with the Government of Alberta to advance policies that strengthen industry capacity, support workforce development, and ensure Alberta remains one of the best places in North America to build.
Welcome to 2026!
As we begin a new year, we want to thank our members for your continued commitment, collaboration, and leadership within Calgary’s construction industry. Your dedication plays a vital role in building not only our city, but a strong and resilient community.
We look ahead to 2026 with optimism and opportunity, and we are excited to continue working together to support your success. Wishing you and your teams a year filled with growth and achievement.
Happy New Year from the Calgary Construction Association!
Merry Christmas from the Calgary Construction Association!
Wishing you and your families a Christmas filled with joy, meaningful moments, and time well spent with family and friends. May your Christmas be bright, your hearts full, and the year ahead bring peace, success, and new opportunities.
Thank you to everyone who joined us today for the latest in our Big Picture Series, “A Conversation with Mayor Farkas” for a candid and intriguing conversation with Mayor Jeromy Farkas about city-building and the role Calgary’s construction industry plays.
With Calgary continuing to grow at a record pace, the discussion focused on the big files that will shape our city’s next chapter: how we keep housing and infrastructure delivery moving, how we tackle the infrastructure deficit with long-term discipline, and how we attract and retain the workforce needed to build what Calgary needs next.
We’re grateful to Mayor Farkas for taking the time to engage directly with our members, and to our community for showing up and contributing to the conversation. The Calgary Construction Association will keep advocating for practical, predictable, and timely decisions that support investment, jobs, and city-building across Calgary.

Yesterday, the Calgary Construction Association hosted our 2025 Spring Golf Classic in support of Kids Cancer Care Foundation of Alberta and the Camp Kindle Expansion and Accessibility Project. We extend our sincere thanks to all of our sponsors, golfers, and community members for making this year’s Golf Classic an incredible success!
We are proud to share that together, our construction community raised $26,367.00 to support Camp Kindle—a medically supported, year-round camp in the foothills of the Rockies that provides children affected by cancer and their families with a safe, joyful space to connect, heal, and just be kids. The expansion project will improve accessibility and increase capacity, allowing even more young people to benefit from this life-changing experience.
BREAKING: Calgary Construction Association Launches Adopt a Shop Pilot Program with Calgary Board of Education
The Calgary Construction Association is pleased to announce the launch of Adopt a Shop, a pilot program delivered in collaboration with the Calgary Board of Education. This initiative is designed to strengthen connections between Calgary’s construction industry and the next generation of skilled trades professionals by supporting educators and providing high school students with practical, hands-on learning aligned with industry needs.
Through this program, participating industry partners support local schools by contributing materials, tools, and equipment, providing financial assistance, and offering mentorship to students through direct engagement and sharing their industry expertise.
Adopt a Shop builds upon the Calgary Construction Association’s longstanding commitment to workforce development and education. It complements the launch of the Honour The Work program, which last year reached more than 850 K-6 classrooms across over 100 Calgary schools. Together, these initiatives advance the Calgary Construction Association’s objective of promoting skilled trades as rewarding and essential career pathways for Alberta’s future workforce.
Organizations interested in learning more about this program or seeking to participate are encouraged to contact the Calgary Construction Association for further information.

Today, the Calgary Construction Association was proud to host the 3rd Annual Premier’s Luncheon, bringing together industry leaders for a timely discussion—just a day after the Government of Alberta tabled Budget 2025.
We were honored to welcome Premier Danielle Smith for a fireside chat, where we explored the challenges and opportunities facing Alberta’s construction industry. Topics ranged from public procurement and labour shortages to skills development, trades, and infrastructure spending—all critical to ensuring we can build the Calgary of tomorrow.
With economic uncertainty driven by fluctuating oil prices, rising material costs, tariffs, and interest rates, our industry must remain adaptable. The Government of Alberta plays a vital role in providing the stability and investment needed to keep Alberta competitive, ensuring that infrastructure projects move forward and that our workforce has the necessary skills to meet demand.
A special thank you to our members for attending and to our many sponsors for contributing to today’s event.

Last week, the CCA was at the Alberta Teachers’ Convention to connect with educators, listen to their experiences, and share the initiatives we’re bringing to Calgary classrooms.
We engaged with hundreds of teachers who are shaping the next generation and discussed ways to bring real-world construction insights into schools. Through Honour The Work, our partnership with TELUS Spark BLUprint, and new pilot programs launching in Calgary schools this fall, we’re working to bridge the gap between students and meaningful careers in the industry.
It’s clear that construction needs more visibility in education - and that starts with high engagement from the right stakeholders. These conversations reinforce why this work matters and why industry needs to be present in the classroom, not just at the hiring stage.
The momentum from this year’s convention already has us looking forward to next year - to continuing these conversations and building even stronger connections with educators in 2026.
