Great to attend this week’s Be an Upstander Showcase. Inspired by young Calgarians who are already leading, speaking up, and standing up for others. Leadership is not about age. It is about courage, character, and choosing to act when it matters.
I've heard from thousands of Calgarians. We need to keep the free fare zone. People have made decisions around where to live, work, and do business based on it. It helps move people downtown, supports safety through busier platforms, keeps transit accessible, and is central to our events and festival strategy.
We recently hosted 'She Governs' with Equal Voice at City Hall. Future leaders stepped into the City Council Chamber, debated real issues, and experienced civic leadership first-hand. Huge thanks to everyone who took part, especially our City Clerks team for helping bring this experience to life!
I've written to the Province calling for a stronger partnership to fully fund and integrate Calgary's Community Court into the justice system. This program is delivering real results, connecting vulnerable Calgarians to support, reducing repeat offences, and easing pressure on police and courts. Let's work together to expand on what works and make our communities safer.
Thank you to my friend Christina Steed and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for hosting me for their regional leadership training event. Great discussion on leadership, volunteerism, and preparing Calgary for our 2 millionth resident. Thank-you for all you do for our community!
It was a pleasure to kick off the Sport Chek Mother’s Day Run at CF Chinook Centre this morning! The run, walk and wheel supports Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities and the Calgary Health Foundation, and has been a great way to celebrate moms for almost 50 years. Maybe next year, you’ll see me with the runners!
Great to attend the 144 Lake Bonavista Scouts Soapbox Derby today. I was a Beaver as a kid, so this one brought back memories. I even took a turn racing down the hill myself. Wonderful seeing young Calgarians building skills, confidence, and friendships through Scouts.
