A week from today (Monday, April 20) at 7pm, I will present my senior recital in historical performance (voice) at Trinity Episcopal Church’s sanctuary. I would love to see friends and folks in the pews.

Happy #worldpostcardday !!
I am so happy I joined Postcrossing so many years ago. It’s connected me with over 700 people around the world who have let me know about themselves and their city/country. :))
a visual music miniature I created recently, using only the sounds and sights of the Sihl River in Zürich.

Five years ago today, I suffered a severe neurological event.
An arteriovenous malformation (AVM) had burst and caused a spinal stroke.
Fortunately, my parents were home when I collapsed in the bathroom.
They took me to the hospital and, along with the medical staff, took great care of me.
The pictures I am sharing today are not from my hospitalization, but from the trip Dad and I took to California three months later.
The purpose of our trip was for me to receive radiation treatment at Stanford Medical Center.
The big machine that delivered my treatment (last picture) is called a CyberKnife. Pretty sick name, right?!
The word “uncertain” comes to mind, looking through these pictures.
I didn’t know if I’d be able to run again. // I don’t know if I’ll be able to run again, but I’ve not given up yet!
I didn’t know if I would be able to live alone. // I’ve done just fine living alone.
I didn’t know if another stroke was on its way. // The radiation treatment worked. The AVM is gone. It can’t hurt me anymore.
These things mattered so much to me back then.
But now, looking at these pictures, I can only feel love for my family.
Dad made this trip special. He took me to Half Moon Bay and San Francisco. He bought a cake for us to celebrate my birthday together.
Mom took care of me while I was in Indianapolis. She would cook for me and watch Dance Moms with me.
My brothers shared my number with everyone they knew. I woke up to hundreds of birthday texts from friends and strangers.
I’m so lucky, truly. My family couldn’t predict my future, but they continue to shape it into something wonderful.
