@jackallen36 and I are already halfway done with our recital series! On Sunday, we got to be in the beautiful @historicfranklinpresbyterian church for our first concert, then the following evening had us at Richland Place in Nashville with the kind folks there. Here are some highlights! I realize the camera angles are not the most flattering, but I promise people were there!
There are two more chances to see us: Friday 11am at the Williamson County Library in the Meeting Room, and Sunday 1pm at @hillwoodpc which WILL be livestreamed. The link will be shared on my story earlier that day.
Tremendously grateful for the chance to share this great music in my hometown!
TENNESSEE FRIENDS: I am thrilled to announce a series of song recitals my friend @jackallen36 and I will be giving in the Franklin and Nashville areas later this month! Admission is free and no ticket is required! The recitalās theme is āThereās No Place Like Home,ā featuring songs on the theme of home and travel. It would be so wonderful to see old friends drop by and experience some amazing music in this equally amazing community.
PERFORMANCES:
July 20th 4pm - Historic Franklin Presbyterian
July 25th 11am - WCS Public Library Franklin Branch
July 27th 1pm - Hillwood Presbyterian
For the longest time, Iāve wanted to take classical music out of the concert hall and into the community. It is an honor and a privilege to get to do this in the place I was born and raised. As performers, we too should not be idle in forging a future for classical music in which all can take part. I hope that for some who attend, this is the first time they will have experienced live classical music. I hope they will walk away with newfound appreciation, and hey, maybe even humming a tune or two!
This Tuesday the 23rd at 8pm will be my senior recital! It features an all-female composers program spanning from Baroque to contemporary. If you canāt be there live, thereās a livestream link in my bio!
The big reason for choosing this theme is because I believe in advocacy through performance. Through engaging performance with an emphasis on educating, we as musicians can advocate for a composer, especially those of underrepresented backgrounds, in the hopes that their music is further studied and listened to.
A lot of people when they hear āclassical musicā think of dead white guys in wigs from a distant past, and I canāt say I blame them. As much as I love many of those dead white guys, this perception only hinders what I consider to be timeless, beautiful music. This recital is just a small example of how classical music is for everyone. I am always thinking about how musicians can modernize our art form. I believe that educating others from a place of humility and passion, paired with advocating for an image of the genre that reflects modern audiences, is a step to achieving that.
Iām still floored thinking about my international opera debut last month with @fio.italia ! Through much hard work and sweat (with no AC), my colleagues put on wonderful productions. Iām thankful for the talented singers and faculty I was lucky enough to work with, and I have no doubt Iāll meet many of them again. Special shout-out to Verdi and Puccini for showing me how cool Italian opera can be. Thanks to the @comune_urbania for having us! Ciao-issimo!

Last weekend I had the honor of performing at the Parthenon in front of the ugly Athena statue. Playing Somnus, the God of Sleep, in Handelās Semele was super fun. Thanks to everyone for their focus and energy in making this a great show!
