There are a lot of corners in the world but this one was mine. I fell hard for
@southriverartstudios visiting and working with
@sculpturethings and was able to find my own place there to build and grow. I had my first show, then my second and my first artist talk. I gardened and helped and met people who became more than studio mates or friends, but a real family.
@philproctorsculpture and
@lainefly had just helped me expand my studio and I had left for a couple weeks of work and travel, thinking lots about how I would arrange my things and what work to make first. When Julia reached out to say there was a fire and it was really bad my heart absolutely broke. At the end of the day I was extremely lucky. No one was physically hurt, my things were mostly in tubs from moving and storage, and I had incredible people (
@emileor8 @derekaston @julia_can_float Pau) step up to help clear my space before the building was condemned. I’m traveling back to Atlanta and have been struggling, Phil and Laine made a real safe space and I can’t imagine being without all the faces that made it so.
@ryandurrett @freaughouse @freddydeshon @chametals @hanksy_b and everyone else who showed up to work and live at
@southriverartstudios deserves your support. Please go to the
@southriverartstudios bio and chip in a couple bucks to any of the go fund mes to help the community transition.
