For The Children 2026 LED, 22 AWG wire, 18 AWG wire, computer, algorithm, aluminum tube, reclaimed sculpture. Curated by @cat_eye_creative for Illumine at @oaklandcemetery Thanks: @philproctorsculpture @southriverartstudios @freddydeshon @sculpturethings @sloppygeorge @erin.rowland.art   📷 1-4 DV Photo Video For The Children comes out of my internal journey of figuring out what made me anxious on Sunday evenings.   I spent several years thinking about it and came to the conclusion that as a self employed adult there isn't always a certainty of what Monday will hold where as when I was a child there was always a sense of safety and certainty of what Monday would hold.   I didn't always have this Sunday evening anxiety so what then was the cause? For me it was my family being evicted right as I started high school. I remember the time leading up to that with sporadic periods of not having power at the house and trying to act normal at school. This event was the veil being pulled away from my eyes that everything would be ok tomorrow and that nothing is a given or certain in this world. In talking with friends and strangers I realize that even with this personal trauma I was fortunate to even have that sense of certainty and safety for a time as a child. So what is this piece about then? For me it's a celebration of joy for all the world's children. Trying to protect them and help them realize their hopes and dreams. 1: Default state. Blue and Green for mom and a friend. 2: Washed out color. Represents adulthood and the traumas we endure reaching it. 3: Rainbow colors. Represents the innocence of childhood and the joy that comes with it. 4: Goofy me talking about the sculpture. I think I look good in this photo :) 5: Video of the sculpture. This was around 2am. Cemeteries are peaceful at night. 6: Working on the code. I used Processing. 7: All the wiring that goes into a work like this. It takes a day to wire and test the sculpture 8: Pilled up in my car 9: The first time all the rings were placed. I ended up removing about 20 due to budget and time constraints but I would like to do all 50 some day. #sculpture #led #publicart #atlanta #lightart

I remember my studio neighbor Aaron calling me around 615 in the morning. This was odd. I answered and he said "hey man the fire department is going through my space right now, you may want to come see if there's anything left in yours" The fire brought back memories of being evicted from my childhood home. Possessions piled up outside. Neighbors standing around watching us load up the small ten foot u haul. It wouldn't be big enough for everything. Hearing them being thankful we were leaving because our yard was an eye sore. Coming back to find people had taken things we couldn't get with the first load. Not a fire but the same feeling of trauma. Seeing yourself on the news stumbling around what you could pull out. Looking confused and shocked. The difference this time was the community cared for each other. Helping pull out what we could. Sharing resources and hope for the future. Love. I was more fortunate than some. Not everything was lost but enough to make me question if it was worth continuing. I talked to a lot of people some close and deer to me, others just acquaintances. At the deinstall of Cloud I found myself with an opportunity for a new studio space through @hambidgecenter I sat with the thought of starting up again for a week or so and eventually succumbed to the idea. Thank you @sloppygeorge I started moving in what was left yesterday. I want to share the generosity that has been shown to me by offering my time to anyone who wants to learn more about the tech or kinetic or programming work I do. Starting in April I will have "office hours" flexible times where you can sign up and come by and get some help on an idea or a project or learn something new. The world is scary right now and my optimism for the future is low. But I believe that forming community is more important now than ever before. If you made it this far I hope your day is full of warmth and joy and love and if you didn't I still hope you feel warmth and love today 💚🫂

Wood Eye 2026 Portable CRT TV's, Salvaged Plywood, RF Modulator, Video The Video is BEEN CAUGHT STEEL. - Mark Claeson (BiZ23) I had the opportunity to do a residency at the @hapevilledepotmuseum with @antar_one over the past few months. I learned a lot and thankful for the knowledge that Antar shared with me. This is the first sculpture/installation since the fire at SR that I've made. I had been collecting pocket and portable tvs for years but lost them in various ways after the fire. Thankfully during a meeting with @samanthasingletonart and Antar I felt compelled to realize that idea. I spent most of January driving around GA looking in thrift and antique stores (with help from @pasteldeer ) and managed to source enough to make this work. Also a big thanks to @masscollective for giving me access to their space to process all the plywood. I started my art journey at Mass waaaaaaay back so lots of memories. Eveytime I talk about the piece it's meaning seems to change so if you'd like to know more, let's grab a beer. #atlanta #crt #art #installationart #museum

Pipe Dream 2026 Anamorphic Projection for Billboard Procedurally generated pipes. Second slide (what are these even called anymore) is the side view. Used a BVH to keep everything in the safe zone for the projection to work. When I was a kid I always wondered how you would do this. On view at 75 MLK through May. You'll need to stand across the street to get the 3D effect! Thankful for all the support from ADID, Orange Barrel Media, and @shelly.3d on this project. I'm leading a workshop March 28th at the Futures Lab on how to set up a project in Blender to make anamorphic projections. #blender #pipes #pipedream #anamorphic #billboard

Saw this in the gram somewhere and wanted to try. Game of life but each iteration is a new layer. I want to try ray marching and blobs instead of boxes and doing it in Unity or Blender. Based off of the Processing Game of Life code example. #processing #creativecodeart #green

@southriverartstudios has a link to all of the GoFundMe pages for artists affected. I found this smoke detector towards the end of yesterday in the back of my studio still beeping weakly. Human nature to look for signs and symbols so maybe there is meaning in finding this resilient smoke detector. I'm not as affected as others. Just smoke and water damage to my studio. I am hopeful I can save some of my sculptures.
