Dike Blair, "Eyes, Skies and Pools"⠀
⠀
In "Eyes, Skies and Pools", Dike Blair turns much of his attention to the Catskills, rendering skies and pools in gouache from photographs taken near his home and studio. The sky paintings register shifting atmospheric conditions—winter light, bare trees, and fleeting weather—punctuated by traces of human presence such as airplane trails and chimney smoke. The pool paintings focus on surface and depth, where reflective light and green tonalities render familiar backyard spaces strangely cinematic. Sculptural works extend these concerns into three dimensions through crate-based constructions that alter gallery space and invite changing viewpoints, blurring distinctions between image and object. Blair’s "Eyes" series, installed between galleries, presents disembodied human forms drawn from friends and acquaintances, returning the viewer’s gaze in moments that are both intimate and disquieting. ⠀
⠀
Blair's exhibitions are joined by long-term installations from James Turrell, Sol LeWitt, Forrest Myers, Francis Cape, and Ellen Brooks, establishing an ongoing dialogue around time, duration and place.⠀
