Catskill Art Space (CAS), in partnership with the Dance Gallery Festival (@dancegalleryfestival ), is thrilled to announce the 10th Annual Ardsley Dance Residency, welcoming acclaimed Portland-based director and choreographer Shaun Keylock @shaunkeylock for a week-long immersive creative retreat in the Catskill Mountains. Now in its tenth year, this celebrated residency brings together choreographers and their collaborators for an uninterrupted creative experience — deliberately freed from the logistical pressures that so often constrain artists working in today's contemporary landscape. The result is work of exceptional deliberation and depth, shaped by the singular inspiration of the Catskill region. Open Rehearsals May 22, 3-5pm Performance May 23, 5pm Following the performance, audiences are invited to participate in a talk back with Keylock and his dancers — a rare opportunity to go behind the creative process and engage directly with the artists. Both events are free and open to all. Catskill Art Space presents...⠀ ⠀ Dike Blair, "Eyes, Skies and Pools"⠀ ⠀ In "Eyes, Skies and Pools", Dike Blair turns much of his attention to the Catskills, rendering skies and pools in gouache from photographs taken near his home and studio. The sky paintings register shifting atmospheric conditions—winter light, bare trees, and fleeting weather—punctuated by traces of human presence such as airplane trails and chimney smoke. The pool paintings focus on surface and depth, where reflective light and green tonalities render familiar backyard spaces strangely cinematic. Sculptural works extend these concerns into three dimensions through crate-based constructions that alter gallery space and invite changing viewpoints, blurring distinctions between image and object. Blair’s "Eyes" series, installed between galleries, presents disembodied human forms drawn from friends and acquaintances, returning the viewer’s gaze in moments that are both intimate and disquieting. ⠀ ⠀ Blair's exhibitions are joined by long-term installations from James Turrell, Sol LeWitt, Forrest Myers, Francis Cape, and Ellen Brooks, establishing an ongoing dialogue around time, duration and place.⠀ ⠀ The exhibition in accompanied by a catalog featuring a new critical essay by Cameron Martin.⠀ ⠀ Opening: June 27, 3–4pm (artist talk & catalog launch)⠀ Reception: 4–5pm (complimentary wine)⠀ ⠀ ✨ OPEN HOURS ✨⠀ Saturday, June 27 | 11 AM - 5 PM⠀ Sunday, June 28 | 11 AM - 3 PM⠀ Monday, June 29 | 11 AM - 3 PM⠀ ⠀ Free and open to the public. Visit @catskillartspace for more information!

OPENING THIS WEEKEND! RUSSELL FLOERSCH, ELANA HERZOG, IAN MCMAHON "Reliquary", Ian McMahon’s latest body of work, opens this Saturday at Catskill Art Space. Composed of towering stacked forms, the “Bub Stack” sculptures embody the history and effort of their making—totemic structures that act as both containers and records of process. Cast in plaster, steel, and fiberglass, their rigid volumes belie the eye, projecting a soft, almost tactile illusion that invites closer inspection. At once imposing and intimate, these columns command the space, becoming portals into curiosity, perception, and material transformation—holding within them the blueprints of their own evolution. Join us for the artists talk with @russellfloersch @elanaherzog @ian.mcm and reception with free wine from @drinkingupstream Saturday, May 2 Artist Talk at 3pm Opening Reception at 4pm

Best known for her stitch-resist shibori, which offers meditations on dreaming, hallucination and consciousness. I had the pleasure of meeting @danieljgiordano while doing my fellowship at @annstreetgallery and I knew I wanted to write about his work. His work (like himself) encompasses much of what is lacking out there: authenticity, material taking the center stage, abjection, and humor. I’m happy to have a review out today of his show at @catskillartspace published by @whitehotmagazine ☀️ Go check it out! Much love 🫶🏻 #danielgiordano #whitehotmagazine
