After Paris, Lisbon and India (yes india) Forêt will be shown for the first time in Brussels at @bozarbrussels ! January 22 & 25, Feb 1st. In November 2022 we ran and danced (not me) through the empty Louvre at night, rubbing noses with Mona Lisa and shaking hands with the statues during the breaks. In het multidisciplinaire microklimaat van KASK @schoolofartsgent ontspruit elk jaar opnieuw een uiteenlopende groep filmmakers en audiovisuele kunstenaars. Dit is een selectie van de masterproeven waarmee de lichting 2024-2025 afzwaait. 𝘊𝘰𝘭𝘥 𝘉𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘰𝘮 van Eleni Aerts, 𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘦 𝘶𝘯𝘦 𝘩𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘪𝘳𝘦 van Charlotte Jodogne en 𝘈𝘴 𝘍𝘢𝘳 𝘈𝘴 𝘞𝘦 𝘐𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘦 van Raouf Moussa werden eerder deze week bekroond met respectievelijk de VAF Wildcard Animatie, VAF Wildcard Documentaire en VAF Wildcard Filmlab. 🗃️ Uit het archief: Kathy Vanhout over Evi Cats’ 𝘐𝘯 𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘴𝘢 𝘥𝘪 𝘶𝘯𝘢 𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘱𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘢 𝘴𝘰𝘭𝘢𝘳𝘦, waarin een verdwaalde vrouw wandelt door Brussel, op zoek naar een bekend gezicht. In Cats’ @ritcs.school.of.arts -afstudeerwerk is de stad een haakwerk van mensen die met handen en voeten aan elkaar hangen. Wachtend op de zonnestorm uit de titel, laaft de camera zich alvast aan lijnen in het straatbeeld. “Ieder mens is de som van gemiste telefoongesprekken, stadswandelingen en verhalen over gebouwen uit een verleden leven. Evi Cats laat heel veel en heel weinig zien, en we begrijpen dat dat alles samenhangt, zij het voor ieder op een verschillende manier. 🇫🇷 Ce soir FORÊT, un film d’Evi Cats – d’après le spectacle Forêt d’Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker et Némo Flouret – en ouverture des Journées du Film sur l’Art au Louvre! 🌎 Tonight FORÊT, a film by Evi Cats – based on the production Forêt by Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker and Némo Flouret - will kick off the 18th edition Journées du Film sur l’Art festival at the Louvre! In 2022, Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, together with the young French choreographer Némo Flouret created Forêt a choreography for the Grande Galerie and the Salles Rouges as well as the Italian and French collections of the Louvre. Evi Cats – a regular Rosas collaborator since 2022 – accompanied the rehearsals and performances and created a personal film right in the thick of the live performance. The image of the eleven dancers weaving their way through whirlwinds, shipwrecks and burning cities certainly resonates with our times. The camera moves almost imperceptibly between the dancers and the audience, alternating between intimate close-ups and wide shots of the imposing scenery. All this is accompanied by a musical dramaturgy by Alain Franco. Instead of trying to match the grandeur of the Louvre, he opted to create a kaleidoscopic soundtrack that traverses the space, seeking a connection with the viewer. Unsurprisingly for the Louvre, Mona Lisa has the last word. More information and full credits on our website
