MANY NAMES MUCH LIKE IT AMONGST YOU: a group exhibition at Nunhead Cemetery Chapel from 18th to 22nd June.
PV 18th June 5-7pm
Closing Event 22nd June 2-4pm
A place where textiles tend to crying wounds; gargoyles whisper hushed words in hallowed secret places; trolls walk the forest floors; queer bodies fragment and eat themselves from the inside out; glad rags pave the floor in the Land of Lead and Silver; claws itch at stories unsaid; waymarkers echo forgotten songs; memories blossom underneath the sun.
Many names much like it amongst you is a collection of stories told by artists, who reimagine tradition and folklore from their childhood into works of art. The artists consider folklores and stories - spanning queer mythologies, local tradition, and indigenous knowledge - to explore how they each carry these histories, whether innate or taught, into their present lives.
