Reccy to the Botanic Gardens Belfast  Between hefty showers and bright sun The driest option for the sound walks tomorrow could be in the visually beautiful but foreboding silence of the palm house, with the almost total absence of birdsong @sonorities

Cuckoos are some of the long distance passage migrants we'll be engaging with in my soundwslks in Belfast this week, on Thursday at Sonorities Festival. The Cuckoos fly over the Sahara Desert in one go, flying for 60 hours nonstop. Breathtaking. The BTO tracking system shows their incredible journeys in real time. Cuckoos Joe spends his winters in the Congo Basin,. Amazing birds, they are on the conservation red list and experiencing a huge drop in numbers. @btobirds @sonorities #cuckoos
