What does love mean to you? โ ๐ This week, local baristas share their answers, and remind us all that Love Shouldnโt Hurt.
From October 13th-19th, 10,800 coffee sleeves will circulate through Butte County coffee shops, each carrying a message of awareness, safety, and hope.
Stop by a participating shop, grab your favorite drink, and share a picture to help spread the message.
Drop a comment below to tell us what love means to you! It helps the algorithm share this message with more people who might need to hear it. The more people who see this message, the bigger our impact!
Are you a Butte County coffee shop thatโs late to the party? Itโs not too late! We have a few extra sleeves and would love to include more local shops. Just send us a DM, and weโll drop some off for you.

Have you spotted any of our ๐ฒ๐ถ๐ด๐ต๐ billboards throughout Butte and Glenn County? ๐คฉ
We were thrilled to have this opportunity to spread awareness about our expanded services to include survivors of sexual violence.
This particular side-by-side billboard pair on Highway 32 East in Hamilton City is a showstopper! A simple yet powerful message for all to see: ๐ธ๐ฆ ๐ฃ๐ฆ๐ญ๐ช๐ฆ๐ท๐ฆ ๐ด๐ถ๐ณ๐ท๐ช๐ท๐ฐ๐ณ๐ด. ๐
If you spot one of our billboards, snap a picture (if it's safe to do so!) and share it with us. They're up for the rest of November. ๐

Behind every community project is a group of people willing to step up and do the work that often happens quietly behind the scenes. Last week, we shared about the incredible volunteers from ๐๐ต๐ถ๐ฐ๐ผ ๐ก๐ผ๐ผ๐ป ๐ฅ๐ผ๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ who helped transform the backyard at HAVEN, but we also want to recognize a few of the community partners who helped make the entire project possible.
Huge thank you to ๐๐ต๐ถ๐ฐ๐ผ ๐๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฎ ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐ฐ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป & ๐ฃ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ธ ๐๐ถ๐๐๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฐ๐ (๐๐๐ฅ๐) for helping keep everything organized and moving forward throughout the project. Having a team helping coordinate logistics made such a difference and allowed everyone to stay focused on the work being done for the families staying at HAVEN.
Weโre also so grateful to ๐๐ฎ๐๐๐ผ๐ป ๐๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ๐๐ฐ๐ฎ๐ฝ๐ถ๐ป๐ด for the amount of care and effort they poured into this space. They helped with pre-cleaning, updated the landscaping plan, repaired irrigation issues, and generously discounted both sod and labor to help bring the project to life. Their work completely changed the feel of the yard.
And a special thank you to the ๐๐ฒ๐๐๐๐ฎ๐ ๐ฃ๐ฎ๐ถ๐ป๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐, ๐๐ป๐ฐ crew for stepping in at the end to help knock out the final pieces of the project list and bring everything together.
Projects like this truly take a community. Seeing local businesses and organizations show up with so much generosity means the world to us and the families who will use and enjoy this space every day. Stay tuned for next week when we continue thanking other businesses who made this collaborative project happen.

Hatchet Hangoutโs recent โThrow for a Causeโ event in honor of Denim Day was a blast!
Catalyst folk and community members came together for a fun evening of axe throwing to help raise funds for our organization.
We had an amazing time and hope we can join up again in the future! ๐คฉ

We want to take a moment to thank the students from the Chico State Honors 393 who partnered with Catalyst for their semester-long Community Change-Making Project: Jessica Lane, Alana Jacobs, Braden Horner, Elisabeth Nini, Joy Orlando, andโ Cassee Alaniz.
These students designed and led a month-long donation drive during Sexual Assault Awareness Month (swipe to see the full haul!).
They distributed hundreds of flyers and collected items for our Sexual Assault Response bags, which our advocates bring with them to support survivors during 24/7 hospital responses. Their compassion, organization, and dedication will make a meaningful difference for the survivors we serve.
Best of all, their efforts helped raise awareness about the sexual assault support services Catalyst provides throughout our community.
Thank you all for your hard work and commitment to supporting survivors in our community. We are grateful for your partnership and proud of the impact you made this semester. Thank you to Professor Molly Heck for connecting us with your students!

Last week, the Catalyst crew wore denim in recognition of #DenimDay2026 to show solidarity with survivors of sexual assault. We loved seeing other community members join in to show their support - thank you! ๐ฉต
We were also part of multiple #DenimDay events throughout the day - stay tuned for more posts to see some of the cool things weโve been up to. โบ๏ธ

We are so incredibly grateful to the Chico Noon Rotary Club! ๐
Over two Saturdays, a group of dedicated Rotarians rolled up their sleeves and transformed the backyard at HAVEN, our emergency shelter, into a more beautiful, welcoming space for the survivors and children we serve. Their presence on site sent a clear a message to the survivors who live there: you matter, you are seen, and this community is here for you.
This kind of hands-on, heart-forward service is exactly what makes Chico special. Watching neighbors show up for neighbors, and for people experiencing some of the hardest moments of their lives, means more than words can express.
Thank you, Chico Noon Rotary, for living out your values of service above self in a way that will be felt by our shelter guests every single day.
See a Rotarian you recognize? Tag them below to thank them for their time!
Weโll be spotlighting more of the incredible local businesses and partners who helped make this project possible over the next few weeks. This was truly a community effort. ๐กโจ

Yesterday, Catalyst team members attended Policy Advocacy Day 2026 at the State Capitol, calling for $100 million in VOCA funding to protect critical services for survivors across California.
We were grateful for the opportunity to speak with Assemblymember James Gallagher (@jamesgallagherca ) and a staffer from Senator Megan Dahleโs office (@megandahleca ) about the importance of funding these services.
We were joined at the event by teams from Empower Tehama (@empowertehama ) and Human Response Network (@hrntrinity ), and are fortunate to stand alongside organizations equally committed to supporting survivors.
@cagovernor we urge you to do the right thing and include $100 million in the May Revise to fund essential, life-saving services for survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, and other violent crimes. California has the opportunity - and responsibility - to step up for all of its people by backfilling VOCA cuts so survivors can heal and communities can be safer for all.
