For every red carpet or opening night (as experienced at Saturday’s opening of JOE TURNER’S COME AND GONE on Broadway) there are hours upon hours that nobody sees: in and out of audition studios, at the desk reviewing tapes, problems found and decisions made. That’s the true nature of casting.
There is a current air of gratitude and accomplishment in the office right now: we have terrific projects in our midst; April 3rd marked our 3rd year as an office and yes, moments like Saturday serve as a reminder of what this team has built together.
Casting is often the unsung part of what makes a show, but in August Wilson’s words, we choose to “stand up and sing.”
