To say that I’ve been out of sorts these past weeks and dropped the ball, is an understatement. So I’m very grateful that, despite this, I have found myself in the running. Yesterday afternoon, I was in like 53rd place, profile not even completed, and within hours of me hastily posting this to my stories, you all got me all the way up to 2nd place (at 3rd I think the time of me writing this). 🙏Thank you. I’m so moved. Because you all rallied, I may actually have a shot at this, despite my tripping up at the start line. lol So thank you. Darling Gregg. I have a moth shaped hole in my heart. You were one of one. The real deal. Inimitable. Iconic. Immeasurably talented. An encyclopedia of knowledge of all things cool and obscure. Most importantly, you were one of the kindest, dearest, most trusted men in my life. Forever grateful for your generosity of spirit. I am one of the lucky ones for having had the privilege of knowing you. I first met Gregg when he was DJing at Bigfoot Lodge. Nick Launay said “You HAVE to meet Gregg. You’re gonna LOVE him.” He was right, of course. But it was when our friend Asa tragically passed that Gregg and I bonded. Gregg, myself, and Sammy, who many of you also knew, were tasked with performing one of Asa’s songs at his memorial. (The last three slides are from this time.) We worked so hard on that, the three of us, taking great care to get it right. In the end, we all broke down during the performance. Gregg in particular was disappointed in himself for not holding it together, but I assured him that it was all the more beautiful. Some years later, we lost Sammy. At Sammy’s memorial Gregg and I remembered that there had been a recording of one of our rehearsals for Asa’s memorial that Gregg and I were trying to find and preserve at the time. Neither of us knew what happened to it. Now Gregg is gone, and I’m obsessed with finding it. I suppose this is how I process things. I have a preoccupation with documentation. I am of course, sending photos to people as I find them. If you can think of one that you know I took and need me to send it to you, don’t hesitate to ask. I love you, Gregg. Say hi to Asa and Sammy for me.
