I met Bear about 5 years ago on a write for the first Wilder Woods record. Since then I’ve had the chance to work with him on three records. I can honestly say I’ve never met an artist with more talent, drive and vision. It’s been a honor to work along side him to help hone these visions. This was a particularly fun record to make. We got to color outside the lines and everyone involved brought something uniquely special to it. I hope you take the time to really sit and listen to this. It’s a wild ride! I’ve worked with Drew for about the past 5 years, and I’ve probably known him for 20. I’ve watched him continue to grow and push himself as an artist over that time. When you see him live it’s amazing how many career defining songs he has in his catalog. Yesterday he released “Fly” which to me is easily one of his best, and maybe his best vocal to date. I’m really proud to get to be a part of his journey and this song feels like a milestone. As a producer it’s easy to get caught up in endless conversations about preamps, compressors, microphones, plug-ins and presets, but I assure you there is no greater factor in making a great record than the spirit of the artist. Ellie’s spirit is undeniable and she BRINGS IT to every aspect of the process. It makes the job of producing a dream. There is no substitute for her kind of spirit. It bleeds into every aspect of the process. Close to 15 years ago I was recording a song for @drewholcombmusic and he invited his wife over to sing some bgvs. When I heard her voice I was done for. Producing a record for her has been on my bucket list ever since that day. I’m thrilled the stars finally aligned and we were able to make a record together.
