I just realized that the latest update in Resolve has a similar feature to what the Nano plugin offers. I think that overall the Nano plugin is a bit more realistic, but if the goal is just to add in a hint of atmosphere then the built in Resolve effect works pretty well.
To me, the more that you add, the more that Nano pulls ahead and looks like it's doing special. The 1st collage is subtle and what I would typically go for in most situations. The 2nd collage is pushing further.
Thoughts?
Testing out a new #davinciresolve plugin called Nano by @greyscalelabsfx that is meant to use a depth map to simulate realistic haze in post production. Pretty impressed so far. Curious how it will hold up in different scenarios.
Another project from a couple years back that I slept on posting, but was a massive highlight, was serving as cinematographer for dir. Debbie Ewing on this music video for Zachary Willams' "Game for Guessing" (from The Lone Bellow) @zonerouter@thelonebellow
It was a real DIY vibe, and again we had super limited time at the main location. Shot this with my Sony FX6 and my buddy Ryan Hamblin's (@chattaroy_rt1 ) modded Pentax medium format lenses, paired with his Kipon E-PL focal reducer to make use of the lenses expanded field of view.
This is a really cool system because Ryan found that pairing these lens elements with the Sony full frame sensors gave you essentially a medium format digital cinema camera. Something that is only just now starting to be an "official" option with stuff like the new Fujifilm cine camera, but didn't really exist when he started experimenting with this method 5-6 years ago. I'm sure others have done it, but it's hard to find from my googling.
A couple of years ago I was asked to DP a music video for one of my favorite bands @thelonebellow . Not sure why I never really posted about it at the time. I was so pumped!
It was a really quick shoot, we only had access to the location for 6 hours and had limited resources. But the director, Debbie Ewing, had a strong vision that embraced the limitations and the team crushed it
4...3...2...1... Introducing Lily Jayne Cross! Born 4/3/21 at 12:35pm - although I’m going to say 12:34 to keep the countdown theme going. She’s a super snuggler and hates hats. @marleauxc and I just love her so much! Thank you Vanderbilt medical staff for taking such great care of her and us.
