Here’s a clip of ‘The Defeatist’ from our 8/10 second Atlanta reunion show at @wallerscoffeeshop . Thanks @dakotafloyd for the video! We appreciate everyone who came out and those who we worked with. As Steve said before we played our last song, “We’ll see you again in another 30 years!” #carvsdriver #carvsdriverband

Thank you @idioteq_com for premiering the reissue of @carvs.driver 's Deja Grateful. That's right, Stickfigure & @lunchboxrecords are reissuing #carvsdriver's debut album Deja Grateful on vinyl. Once test pressings have been approved we will be accepting preorders. The reunion came first. “After nearly 30 years of being in different places, in 2024 we had the chance to play together again,” the band say. “In doing so, we wanted to mark the occasion by bringing the band’s memory into the present. Deja Grateful is an important document in our lives, and it’s been out of print for so long. At its heart it’s about struggle. We poured all of ourselves into it, which makes it still ring true.” That history sits inside a specific moment in Atlanta. Singer Matt Mauldin describes the early 90s as a hinge point. Hardcore and thrash had been running all-ages bills for years, skinheads still showed up, and the post-hardcore, emo, and DIY threads were only just pushing in from the edges through bands like the Atlanta version of Fiddlehead, Freemasonry, and Scout. The previous generation, Neon Christ and After Words, had either moved on stylistically or aged out of all-ages venues. Mauldin and bandmate Steve had both helped touring bands put on shows before and during Car vs. Driver’s run. When the band started touring themselves, the reciprocity they got from DIY houses elsewhere came back home with them. #indiemusic #atlantagamusic #posthardcore #reissue

Original brush and ink by @denvoidpunks of the photo of the band and our longtime friend and roadie Ashley, outside of the Somber Reptile and in front of our van, in Atlanta after our last show in July 1995, with Braid and Inkwell. Its was an exhausting end of a busy (and heavy) two year run. I met @denvoidpunks (Bob) in October of 1997 after he’d moved to Atlanta when he came to our first reunion show, and managed to get on the bill last minute performing a few acoustic songs. Ever since, he’s been one of my dearest friends and we’ve had many adventures and misadventures together. James and I played in the band Chocolate Kiss with him, and we all made a lot of music together, for better or for worse. Bob also played in Savalas with Sonny Kay before we knew him. This art came from Bob’s series of brush and ink drawings of old photographs for his Denvoid book series, custom for me and one of my most prized possessions. The original photo is pretty synonymous with the band, and usually appears on a Google search of us. If anyone recalls who took the photo, please comment.

Breathe Again from our last show in July of 1995 at the Somber Reptile in Atlanta with our friends in @braidofficial and @inkwellhc . We'd been recording the songs for the second LP Out of a Silent Sky in the days prior, so most of those songs were both fresh and tight in the final shows. One of my favorite Car vs Driver songs - short, impactful, a lot happens, with lyrics that are menacing, paranoid, and traumatized. Video by our friend Alain visiting from France. #somberreptile #somberreptileatlanta #posthardcoreband #90semocore #90semo #90sposthardcore #90shardcore #outofasilentsky

Quality flyer, except for the Dischord misspelling that slipped past Quality Control. RLTSOT played a couple of ripping shows at the Somber Reptile, one as a trio in early 1993 just after their demo tape was released, and this one as the fully realized quartet with Bobby Sullivan on vocals and percussion. We were playing a lot with our buds in Freemasonry and Bite during this time. Random Ged came down from NC. @dugbird @recordplugmagazine @catfightatlanta #rainlikethesoundoftrainsband #rainlikethesoundoftrains #somberreptileatlanta #somberreptile #atlantapunk #atlantapunkshows #atlantapunkscene #dischordrecords

July 10th, 1995 performance of Hemlock at the Ford House in Auburn, AL. As previously posted, this show was with Crownhate Ruin, Spirit Assembly, Frail, and Second Story Window, and was a rager. Video was likely either shot by Ashley or Alain, and reposted from Shiftyallstar on YouTube. #carvsdriver #carvsdriverband #dejagrateful #90semo #90semocore #90shardcore

Live video of 'This Is The Product' from the December 1994 show in Bloomington, IN with Braid & Tanner Boyle in Icki's basement. We think Ashley manned the camera, and reposted from Joe from Inkwell's YouTube page. #carvsdriver #90semo #90semocore #90shardcore#90sdiypunk #dejagrateful

4.13.94 with DC’s Holy Rollers and Athens, GA sludge metal legends Harvey Milk. If I recall correctly, Harvey Milk’s van was broken into and raided on this night. #carvsdriver #harveymilkband #holyrollersband #somberreptileatlanta #90sdiypunk #dischordrecords
