It’s Workout Wednesday, and one thing I’m trying to do lately is diversify what shows up on this profile a little more. Not every part of life is writing, projects, deadlines, or trying to wrestle stories into existence. Sometimes it’s just showing up and trying to take care of yourself one step at a time.
Today was core day, and I ran headfirst into a reminder that recovery isn’t always a straight line. Ever since my surgery and having one of my lymph nodes removed, I’ve had issues with my right shoulder. During side planks today, that weakness showed up again in a very real way where pain shot through my arm when trying to hold the pose.
For a minute, I thought about skipping the exercise entirely. Instead, I slowed down, adjusted where I needed to, and worked through it carefully until I could finally complete the exercise. Was it perfect? Absolutely not. But it was better than quitting, and sometimes that’s the win of the day.
I think a lot of us forget that progress doesn’t always look impressive. Sometimes progress is just deciding not give up.
