Norfrica: Glorious Death #1 is here. This launch trailer doubles as an official music video for the in-universe single "Glorious Death," bringing the mythic energy of our newest Rippaverse series to life. Set in a vast mythological universe, Norfrica: Glorious Death #1 is a 64-page graphic novel that dives deep into the ancient past of the Rippaverse. The story unfolds in Asgarth, a realm of disciplined gods, and Middangarth, a mortal world long watched from above. When peace with Jotunheiml begins to crumble, two sons are sent on a mission that spirals into deception, betrayal, and war—a turning point that will define legends like Validan and Takhari for generations. There's a lot of conversation about how hard it is to be an artist in today's market, and I'm not dismissing that. But there's a perspective that gets lost. I've had artists turn down page rates and cover rates from the Rippaverse that are higher than what major publishers would pay — not because the rate wasn't good, but because they were worried about how their peers would perceive them or whether it might jeopardize their standing with the big publishers they want to work for. Nobody is obligated to accept every gig. That's your right. But if you're turning down well-paying work because you're afraid of social consequences from your peer group or because you think it puts you out of favor with mega-corporations that may never hire you anyway — that is an unhealthy way to operate as a creative professional. You're leaving money on the table that could sustain your career and support your family because the social cost feels too high. Meanwhile, those same peers will talk about how difficult it is to make a living as an artist. The opportunities are right there. Some people are choosing to walk away from them. The market might be difficult. But some of that difficulty is self-imposed. A little perspective goes a long way.

The world feels nihilistic because the feeds are nihilistic. It's very easy to fall into the trap of thinking everything is on fire, everything sucks, and there's no optimism anywhere. But that's not the real world. That's what you're being exposed to. Whether you're a creator or just scrolling, curate your feed. I've done it with mine — most of what I see on social media is gaming, fitness, and comics. That's it. I'm purposely ignorant on a lot of stuff I don't care about, and that's by design. I treat it the same way I treat the Rippaverse — if the masses come to me, great, but I'm not chasing the masses. You don't have to engage with everything. You don't have to be informed on every outrage cycle. You get to decide what you're exposed to, and that decision directly impacts how you feel about the world. The real world is not your feed. If everything feels hopeless, that's a signal to change what you're consuming, not a reflection of reality. Take control of it.

Pro tip — social media is a spectacle. It is not a place where truth thrives above all else. Though it would be nice if everybody were honest and transparent about their motives, that's not how it works. Some people are operating in good faith. Some aren't. Stop assuming everyone falls into the first category. Social media incentivizes engagement, not accuracy. It rewards spectacle, not substance. If you spend your time engaging with every bad-faith actor and every outrage cycle, you're burning through your most precious resource for nothing. Be more selective. Dedicate your bandwidth to the people who are at least attempting to be honest — even if you disagree with them. The conversations become more substantive in both agreement and disagreement. You actually get something out of the exchange. You don't have to doom scroll. You don't owe your time to strangers. If you feel obligated to engage with or speak on everything you see online, you're probably doing it wrong. And perhaps most importantly — you're probably unhappy. Your time is your most precious resource. Treat it that way.
