This one comes from the soul.
Arlo Eisenberg is one of the true pioneers of blading — roller freestyle. As a kid, I grew up at his family’s skatepark. I learned there, I taught there, and honestly, I grew up there. Arlo’s impact on me, both as a person and a skater, is massive.
His family always showed support to bladers and to every corner of extreme sports. Above the door at Eisenbergs, the sign said “Home for Skaters.” And that’s exactly what it was. Once a year they held the legendary Hoe Down — a competition that brought the best skaters from all around the world to Texas. The energy, the motivation, and the inspiration that came from that event shaped a whole generation of skaters, myself included.
Even the logo for Carriers Skate Shop and the Carriers Open was inspired by Arlo’s art. And all these years later, he’s still in the game — with Drug Receipts, with his creativity, and by showing up at events and supporting the community.
The Carriers Open is special because of his involvement — his ideas, his design, his help organizing, hosting, and being on the mic. His part in the NISS organization helped bring everything together in a way only Arlo could.
I want to give a very special thanks to Arlo Eisenberg — for the inspiration, the support, and the legacy that continues to push blading forward. 🐐
