May is National Bike Month, and the cycling activities in Frisco are wheelie impressive this year! 🚲
Whether commuting to work or riding for fun, there are plenty of ways to get those gears turning throughout the city.
Pedal over to these upcoming events:
🚲 May 9: Bike Rodeo at Riders Field (9 to 11 a.m.) – Join Frisco's Hike & Bike Advisory Board, @friscoroughriders@friscopd and @bikedfw for free helmet checks, bike inspections, vendors and a fun course for the kids.
🚲 May 11 – 16: Bike to Work Week – Shift your routine and swap the car for two wheels. Friday, May 15, is the official Bike to Work Day!
🚲 May 16: Cycle the City – Take a conversational-paced ride with city officials and staff. It’s a great way to handle the road while discovering local parks and public art.
🚲 May 16: Ride the Rail – Join @friscooldtowncommunity , @rollertownbeer , and @endur3bikes to ride through @theraildistrict to Frisco Commons Park and back again.
🚲 May 20: Ride of Silence – Participate in a silent procession with the Shawnee Trail Cycling Club @shawneetrailcc to honor cyclists and promote road safety. Registration is required.
Life is a beautiful ride, so let’s make some spoke-tacular memories this May.

Play Frisco turns 30 this year! Can you believe it? As we enter another decade, we’re still feeling young because play *literally* keeps us that way! Seriously, we've got the science to show that.
Join us over the next few months as we celebrate #30YearsofPlay. We'll share stories from "back in the day." We'll have special activities and giveaways at our upcoming events. And we'll look ahead to the next 30 years and imagine all the fun memories we'll make as we play in Frisco, from our parks and trails to our recreation centers and programs.
It's National Walnut Day and we're celebrating our favorite Walnut! 🐿️
Whether he’s scouting out the best trails, testing the park benches, pausing for a photo with residents, or just making sure our green spaces are top-tier, Walnut keeps this city playing.

This poor, young heron was caught in fishing line on the banks of a pond at Cottonwood Creek Greenbelt. 🥺
A group of volunteers from KW Frisco Stars was cleaning up the park and trail when they spotted the struggling bird. They quickly notified our Natural Resources Division who sent a crew out there to assist. NRD staff Fred and Manuel carefully removed the fishing line and safely released the bird.
We’re so proud of our team for taking care of Frisco’s wildlife so well. Preservation & Conservation are one of our Big Plays, and this is a prime example of how we do that!
This story is also a great reminder to recycle your used fishing line. Left behind, discarded fishing line poses a serious threat to birds, fish, and other animals, not to mention it pollutes our parks. Help us keep nature clean and safe by taking your trash with you. You can also find fishing line recycling stations at several Frisco ponds.

Splash pads at Frisco Commons Park and J.R. Newman are now open for the season and ready for nonstop fun. Grab your sunscreen, pack a towel, and make a splash all summer long!

A meaningful way to honor Old Glory.
Spend Flag Day with the community during a special ceremony on Saturday, June 14, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Freedom Meadow at the Warren Sports Complex, 7599 Eldorado Pkwy.
In partnership with the Frisco VFW and Boy Scouts of America, this event offers an opportunity to respectfully retire worn or tattered American flags, learn about flag retirement traditions, and reflect on the freedoms our flag represents.
Event Schedule:
• 1:30 p.m. — Flag Collection by Veteran Groups
• 2 p.m. — Flag Retirement Ceremony
• 2:30 p.m. — Fire Vigil by Scouts
The Miracle League of Frisco recently rededicated its field following a city reinvestment project. The Mike Simpson Miracle League Field at Harold Bacchus Community Park now has an updated field surface, closer outfield fence and an all-inclusive playground.
