On Thursday Carney's Community celebrated 10 years of being based at Petworth Street, in Battersea. We held an open day, with demonstrations of our #boxing #bikes #fitandfed our new #musicstudio and a number of #businesses, #projects and #socialenterprises. We'd like to thank the hundreds of people that came along to help us celebrate. πŸ“Έ @nick.cornwall #Carneyscommunity #fitzroylodge #earlsfieldabc #greatmindsconquerall #Aimhigh

Over the past month, with the help of @wandsworth.lifelonglearning we have delivered 2 educational employability courses, that our participants have completed, to help them with finding work or self employment. They involved 2 level 2 construction awards, 1 level 1 with a week of paid work experience coming up. We also did a nail course, where participants got 3 different diplomas around nail treatments. Well done to everyone who gained qualifications and big thanks to our employability team, Alice and Layla. Next up we have our gym level 2 qualification

Big congratulations to our award winning staff; Samiha, Mya, Timothy and Nabil. Getting recognition for the work they put in at Carney's, doing a variety of things to help develop our like participants. Some examples being developing and teaching participants to cook, motivating the participants, being great rolemodels, completing youth work qualifications and even running the marathon. #pillars of our community!!!

Carney's Community sadly lost access to our original YouTube Channel, so we have created a new one and re-uploaded our original videos, along with publishing a whole bunch of new videos. Take a look through the playlists we've created. We have more videos coming soon, so please subscribe to the channel." /@CarneysCommunity (link in bio, or just search Carney's Community on YouTube)

So proud of these guys for what they achieved today (and for helping us fundraise) at the #tcslondonmarathon2026 . Nathaniel - (my son) at only 18, smashing his first marathon and making me a very proud dad. Always pushing himself to his limit! Nabil - our coach, but also the younger brother of one of our core participants, whose life was sadly taken from us exactly 9 years and 1 day ago #Abdullah. Abdullah introduced Nabil to Carney's and will be looking down, incredibly proud on what he has achieved (not just with the marathon, but life in general)!!! Steph - who we met just over a year ago. Decided she'd like to help out the charity and chose one of the hardest challenges to do it in. Also running her first ever marathon, in very hot conditions, but sadly no pics yet. Hugely grateful to all three and don't forget, you still have time to donate (we codes in the last pic and in my bio). πŸƒπŸ½πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ½

Nice to see our work on knife crime recognised in the Houses of Parliament again, by our MP @marshadecordova_ . Just sad that it is still needed.

Today I had the opportunity to speak at a CV & Employability Workshop run by @dentsu in partnership with @carneyscommunity where I shared a breakdown of my journey & experience in the media industry over the last 6 months as a Media Sales Intern. Rather than trying to cover everything at once, I focused my speech on key parts of the journey that have shaped my understanding of the industry so far. I spoke about the value of stepping into a professional environment, learning how the media world operates in real time & developing a stronger understanding of communication, commercial awareness, confidence, & personal growth. These last 6 months have taught me that working in media is not just about job titles or being in the room. It is about learning how to present yourself, how to build relationships, how to listen, how to adapt & how to keep growing through every challenge & opportunity. Every conversation, every task, and every new experience has contributed to a deeper understanding of the industry & of myself. Being able to speak to others at this workshop meant a lot to me because CVs and employability are about more than just writing down skills on paper. They are also about recognising your journey, understanding your value, & having the confidence to communicate your story in a meaningful way. That is something I wanted to bring into my talk today. I am grateful to Dentsu & Carney’s Community for creating spaces like this that genuinely invest in people, open doors & help others move forward with more clarity & confidence. It was a privilege to contribute, reflect on my own journey & hopefully offer insight that can help others take their next step. This is still only the beginning for me & I am looking forward to continuing to learn, develop & build within the media industry. Thank you to James Watkins, Patrick O'Neill & James Wilby for coming down to talk to eveyone & providing us all with very insightful information. Thank you to @diversitymediasales for asking me to attend & do a speech, i appreciate all the support you have given me on my journey. πŸ—£οΈπŸ’ŽπŸ€
