NYC Marathon 2024 🗽🍎
(3:27:01)
Marathons are hard and terrifying and significant and long and require a lot of you. It’s this big daunting thing you anticipate for months but then it’s over.
Between waking up at 4am on Nov 3rd to going to bed around midnight Nov 4th, I felt like I lived two lifetimes on race day.
Although in the weeks prior, I had found the numerous course breakdown videos
@jon.suckling subjected me to repetitive and anxiety inducing 🥰, I ended up being very thankful when I anticipated the Verrazano and Queensboro bridges to be so much more brutal than they really were.
The race course was tough and humbling but I went in with the mindset I wanted this to be as enjoyable as possible. Any time I felt stressed or resentful, I gave myself the grace to ease up on pace and forget about any outside pressure.
The opportunity to run New York this year was one I am beyond grateful for and can’t thank the folks at New Balance Canada (
@davekorell ) enough for helping to facilitate an electric weekend 💯.
Thank you to the incredible folks at
@blacktoerunning for making this all possible (
@blacktoemike 🙏🏻).
Thank you to coach
@bryan.rusche for helping me get back to fighting shape and listening to all of my nervous ranting and doubts.
And to everyone in the run club and Toronto running community for their support during the build (and the past year and a half). I’ve encountered a few injuries and setbacks and absolutely would not have made it to the start line without everyone’s love and well wishes.
This race weekend was so special to be able to share with some of my favourite people. To have someone like
@jon.suckling , who embraces running’s trials and tribulations with me and is a source of unwavering support in everything I do, is more than I could ask for ♥️.
I feel so fulfilled and proud to have the memories of NYCM 2024 to look back on.
